Strangely, I don’t think I ever get burned out or writer’s block. When I’m losing creativity, I just take a break and do other things for awhile, then come back when I’m ready. Sometimes that takes minutes, sometimes it’s weeks, but I don’t worry about it. Reading other people’s books in the meantime is a good recharger. ヽ(^。^)丿

I don’t get writer’s block much either. I used to, but now when I feel it’s onset, I take a break or work on another story or something. Or work on something else entirely like drawing or reading.
I remember I used to get it a lot before. I guess I didn’t have things to do in replacement that was still creative.

I spent the weekend going out to a far-away supermarket that has all kinds of fun food. Ended up just enjoying looking and got nothing

Okay guys. I had a thought. Tell me what you think.
I was thinking I have no expertise. I’m not qualified to give anyone any advice. In fact, idk who is qualified to give advice about anything to anyone if they haven’t studied the craft and read books about how to do the craft instead of being self-taught.
But then I thought of something.
That’s wrong.
See, imagine a newbie kitty writer. They are struggling to get over writer’s block. Then one day, they figure out a good method that works for them.
Now imagine this newbie kitty writer meeting a newbie puppy writer. The newbie puppy writer complains about writer’s block. Oh woe is me. So, the newbie kitty writer, who has just found a method that works for them to get over writer’s block, gives the newbie puppy writer advice on ONE METHOD that might work.
It is a newbie giving another newbie advice based on their own experiences.
Is that the one and only, ultimate super awesome, golden diamond platinum piece of advice that the newbie puppy writer should definitely listen to?
No.
It’s advice based on a single person’s experience, so it might not work for the newbie puppy writer. That being said, it doesn’t hurt to try, does it? Because only through trial can the newbie puppy writer figure out what methods might work for them when overcoming writer’s block.
The same story can be applied to experienced people. Look, I’ve been writing for at least 15 years. Does that mean I am the one and only, super great special ultimate shiny grand person that you should ever listen to?
No.
Don’t listen to me if I give advice saying “I have been writing for 15 years, so I know what I’m talking about and you SHOULD listen to me”. Experience doesn’t make expert.
I can only give advice based on my experiences. But I can give advice.
See, what I need to do is say, “based on my experiences, this is what worked for me. You can try if you want to see if it will work for you.” or “You can try if you want to see if this information will help you, too.”
Going back to newbie kitty and puppy writer, newbie kitty writer can give advice based on their experiences, but should not say that is the ultimate advice to listen to when it comes to overcoming writer’s block. Because if it doesn’t work for newbie puppy writer, they might think there’s something wrong with them, they’re not meant to be a writer, or they shouldn’t listen to a fellow newbie and stick to the so-called “experts”.
Newbies are a tricky bunch to deal with. They take everything to heart because they don’t know how to weed out good and bad advice yet. You have to be careful with them.
Anyway, going all the way back to me saying I’m not an expert on anything.
So, it’s true, I’m not an expert on anything. I didn’t sit down to analyze the writing craft. A lot of what I’ve acquired is self-taught (which includes asking for feedback and advice from others, and also seeing what other writers are like).
I realized one thing I am good at: asking questions about world building things and coming up with topics to think about to flesh out your world. I’m not an expert, but over the course of writing and interacting with others and getting asked questions about my own world building, I feel like I have a better grasp on the aspect of world building as a pantser.
That’s important to talk about, too. I am a pantser, so I cannot give any advice to all you organized plotters out there.
But I think I have a thing or two or many to say about world building. Yet, I am no expert. So, I will never say “you should do this or that because I’ve been writing for 15 years”.
This finally leads into my idea to talk about world building as a pantser on my YouTube channel

Aww, I don’t think you’re giving n00bs enough credit. After all, we were all newbies once upon a time, yet we knew to take advice with a grain of salt.
As for the rest, I totally agree with you, and it would be great if you gave writing advice on your channel! ٩(˘◡˘)۶

I don’t mean all newbies, of course 
That part comes from something I’ve seen on FB.
I have seen a lot of newbie writers in writing groups who have taken some not-so-good advice to heart, and then they have come to the group asking if they should stop writing because they can’t do as the advice said 
They were just steered in the wrong direction. I’m hoping that if advice were worded slightly differently, maybe they might not have ended up in that mindset.
Not always When a more experienced writer told me a 50k book can’t span over the course of four to five days, I changed it to a month even though there was no reason for me to do that. Now, I look at that advice and think “oh geez, I thought that was the truth???” I changed it back because the events happening over the course of a month didn’t make sense plot-wise. It came with practice, weeding out good and bad advice, in my case at least.
Of course, there were times when, as a newbie, I could tell what was good advice and what was ridiculous (someone once told me never to mention a character’s period and I completely ignored them). But sometimes, I couldn’t tell, and followed through, ultimately ending up hurting the story.
After I get through the next two articles, it’s the next step to get into the gritty stuff I also want to go through some specific writing advice like those for “show don’t tell”.

What new genres do you want to be official, as in, appearing as a category on Amazon and being a section in bookstores?
Not particularly that I want it, but I was thinking there needs to be Romantasy as an actual official genre on Amazon because there’s so much of it. It should be a thing at bookstores, too, if it isn’t already.
Something interesting on Amazon…there’s something called Ghost Romance, now.

I want ALL of them, even the ones I’ve never heard of, to be categories. It’s so hard to find books with how many trillions of them are out there now. Reducing them to their smallest niche might help weed out what I don’t like.
I’d also like every book categorized by POV and depth. If a book is a lightweight beach read like Red, White & Royal Blue it should be categorized as such somehow, to separate those books from deeper, more thought-provoking romances like Song of Achilles or Persuasion.
BUT MOST OF ALL, I WANT EVERY SINGLE BOOK THAT USED ANY AI AT ALL IN ITS CREATION TO BE CLEARLY MARKED AS SUCH! ☜(ˆ▿ˆc)

What are your thoughts on crystals?
