Exactly, and I can’t remember, honestly, what, if anything, I was referring to with my question. Idk if it was particularly trauma…
Or, maybe the character doesn’t do any growing?
I have a character that goes broke, gets disowned, completely loses it, and then ends up on the wrong side of society. Hardships. Then he gets picked up by a notorious assassin. Surprise, he’s at his best being an assassin’s apprentice (no insanity episodes, clear-headed, has friends) even though he’s committing murder. He almost does his character growth…when tragedy strikes because it’s that kind of story
He ends up captured and then completely loses it again coming full circle to the beginning.

yayyyy!!
Topic: Too Much Content?
Do you ever go to YouTube or a news site or turn on the TV or however you take your content, and just look through all the stuff that’s out there and think, “You know what? The world is FILLED with content.”
It’s so much information, so much stuff, so much variety…if we get bored, it’s probably just because we’ve had too much. Just like you might eat a lot of your favorite food until you get tired of it, we consume a lot of content all the time and then get tired of it.
I didn’t bring this up because I feel overwhelmed. I’m just realizing for the first time just how much STUFF there is out there for us to consume through our eyes and ears.
What do you think about all the stuff out there? What do you think about our very, very digital era?
Do you think it will ever pop? Like, right now we’re on this high living our dream of digital stuff, but one day, maybe far into the future, it’ll just pop and be gone? Or is this world going to turn into an epic (possibly dystopian) sci-fi movie?
Yup, there’s tons and tons of content out there, all right. The problem is that the overwhelming majority of it is just garbage. So my feeling is that there’s lots out there, but not much for me…
Glad other people have plenty to sift through, though. ( ^◡^)っ✂
It is a quantity over quality issue. But I think I gave my youtube algorithm some sort of illness from watching a mix of, well, everything.
That’s where you need to battle with the good-old algorithm. Apparently it’s supposed to help us find things that are for us specifically.
Apparently ![]()
So, what kind of content are you into consuming lately? What’s your current trend?
lol, I can imagine your YouTube recommendations to be a wild place ![]()
That’s the kind of 2-hour thing I’d watch while drawing ![]()
Have you watched anything by Truegreen7?
I’ve been watching things that usually help me get in the mood to write, like writing advice and MasterClass videos, history videos and other research, book reviews, book analysis, and hour-long writing sessions with good music and nice locations. Stuff like that. It’s hard to find good ones, though, and the algorithm keeps bringing up the same twenty most popular people. There must be plenty of less known YouTubers out there doing the same thing, but it’s hard to find them even when I do a manual search. ¯\_(ﭢ)_/¯
A relevant quote from an old university course:
People are drowning in data, and starving for information ~ Information Management saying.
There is a lot of content around now, but finding quality / usable information is not easier than before. In most cases the new content is tailored for web-search or Social Media algorithms (and trends) first, and human appeal second.
However, the algorithm gods have occasionally worked in my favour, as over the past year I have discovered some small yet fascinating content creators; mostly on YouTube and now on X / Twitter.
Oh, a few of the major AI-software company CEOs mentioned they have used all of the human-generated data on the Internet for their AI training. So now they have switched to AI-generated data to train their new AI software. I think the CEOs mean they have used all of the GOOD human-generated data, and the leftover human content is not worth their time…Rubbish in, rubbish out…
As for the future. Digital storage space will always be an issue, but I doubt we will ever run out of Hard Drive space. I remember the days of the 1.4 megabytes floppy disks, and now we have postage stamp sized SD cards with gigabytes of space. The distant future could go three ways: Global (nuclear?) war sends computer-dependant humanity hurtling back to the Medieval times; Global AI duopolies turn the world into a real-life Cyberpunk 2077 / Altered Carbon scenario; De-centralized unfiltered AGI / ASI sets humanity on an enlightened IT-demigod (Halo) Forerunner galaxy conquering path.
Time to post my favourite Forerunner lore video again…
Oh, also thought of this old video. The time scale is intentionally off, but the sequence of events is somewhat believable.
It’s a good quote.
Definitely not.
In fact, I have to sift through mediocre stuff to get to anything useful, or I have to be clever with how I search. What keywords… It’s an effort sometimes.
Made me laugh XD There’s probably a ton of this stuff.
If only most of it was good info ;-;
Oooh yeah, big time! Most of it isn’t really quality content imo, though there’s some good hidden gems among the junk.
Topic: Do you have holiday traditions you follow?
In a few days, I’ll be returning home to my parents to celebrate New Year’s the Japanese way–a big meal of stuff you only eat on New Year’s.
It’s tradition for our family to do this.
So, I wondered if you guys have any traditions you follow.
Also, this is a notice for my New Year’s hiatus.
