Book signings looks painfully fun and I am no near that point!

I’ve seen a few authors on YouTube signing copies of their books and it even happens at bookish events.

It looks fun, but so very painful to do, at least for me.

I understand it an author thing that has to be done, but there’s no much help involved in the process, other than the signed copies being taken away or medication for the pain and a brace or something else.

I am focusing on the painful aspect more than the joyful part a bit.

I’m sure there’s ways to write the signature without hurting yourself too much.

Honestly, do not understand why I am concerned about this so early in the game, but it just something that I noticed a bit.

Thoughts and feelings?

I mean…how hard are you pressing the pen on the book? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d be more worried about getting merch together, smiling, and just simply being there.

Fairly hard.

The thought of doing that in public scares you?

Not doing it public.

Doing it right. I want things to go the way I envisioned it and when it doesn’t, I panic :stuck_out_tongue:

Ah, I understand.

I’m terrible at sudden schedule changes because in my mind, I already imagined myself going to that place at that certain time, or doing that thing at that certain time, so when it suddenly doesn’t happen, I get so worked up about it sometimes

My partner is a go with the flow kinda guy, so he has taught me to take things as they come a little bit more. It’s hard though sometimes when things don’t happen as planned :stuck_out_tongue:

I am gonna make books so beautiful,
people won’t want them signed to ruin them.

I’m sure that won’t stop some people.

I don’t EVER want to sit through a book signing, although I will.

If I ever go, you better draw a Churro on mine

I love the concept of book signings and bookish events like that, but the thought of doing it myself is nerve-wracking lol. xD

I technically could deal with the socializing aspect, but my introverted, anxiety-ridden self would loathe it. Haha

And yeah, signing would be a pain. I actually started creating a simple signature in case I do ever publish and have a book signing event. It’s basically my initials (first and last)… which is AM. Like this:

I’ve been trying to perfect it for a while now, but my handwriting is all over the place lol

I think that I wouldn’t mind it… until there’s hundreds or thousands of them. Then I’d be like, “I’m just doing the first hundred, which will be the limited editions” or something. xD

Buy a special type of pen that works well on the paper. That’s what most people do. Either that or you can market it as “digitally signed”. Unless you’re at an actual event where you have to do it in person.

As for me doing it . . . well, I already spend most of my time in a brace or on painkillers so it wouldn’t be that big of a deal :joy:
