〚 C O L O S S E U M 〛- A Writing Prompt Battle Game

Um, in relation to the above conversation, this is gonna sound fucked on my part lol if somehow Benji can use his amazing sickle. How many people could his projected slashes cut through before I guess dissipating for lack of a better word?

It’s Benji we’ve stopped questioning it.

I just thought– Jun has a reflect/deflect shield basically, so that made everything feel harder. It was a bit hard to understand that bit. ^^”

For me (my character lol) String-Eye doesn’t seem too hard though. Moon has invisibility to outsmart the vision abilities. She has super speed to combat the string, though that’s gonna be really tricky.

So and so, thank you for sharing your opinions.

Also, I forgot how to do that hide detail thing, lol… How–

Jun Hinode vs Aidan 🗿

“For a renegade, you surely are…” Aidan took in a breath, eyes sharply on the other as he looked for the right word in his description. “Savvy.”

“Oh?” The elder raised a brow. “Do you have such low expectations from renegades?”

“I have no expectations nor respect for traitors like you who stands on zero morals of life,” the younger spat back and unsheathed his katana, slashing it through the air. He held it before him, in offense mode, gripping very tightly onto the hilt. The documents were gone, probably in the Emperor’s hands already, so there was no point in scavenging the secret places of the mansion for them. Viv would most definitely not be pleased, but there was no point in pondering on that either. He still had a job: to capture the prince.

Jun Hinode sensed the change in air– even an ordinary man could hear the swoosh that the weapon had made– and twisted on his heels to see that the boy had challenged him to a duel. He tilted his head, seemingly unaffected by the action.

“What makes you say that?” The prince asked. He still had his smile on, kept himself composed. There were no intentions for him to pull up a brawl immediately, Aidan noticed.

The boy chose to stay silent, on full alert as he glared at the elder. He hated men like him, who put up lies just for their own interests. So it was no surprise for him to have his guard up, a dim fury rising up inside him. As a prince though, Jun Hinode’s priority must’ve been his people. He was doing whatever he did for a cause, and it made the lines of good and bad blur so badly that he couldn’t come up to a conclusion.

Who was right? Who wasn’t?

“Surely, you cannot judge a book by its cover, Aidan,” Jun continued to say, one hand poised behind his back whilst the other still held onto his diary. Aidan observed how the other had done his research on. On them. “If you were me, you’d have done the same.”

“I would rather die in war than deceive those who trust me.”

A small pause followed by his retort, nothing but a slight breeze and intense stares passed. The prince let out a sigh and sharpened his gaze. “Very well. If that is what you wish for, so be it.”

Jun Hinode let the diary fall to the ground. He outstretched his palms and positioned himself in a combative stance, seemingly holding what Aidan supposed were his air blades.

“Let the duel begin then.”

Even as he said it, the prince refused to make any first moves, making Aidan have to do it. A gust of wind swept past them and air currents swirled around Jun Hinode, barely visible. The younger ran towards his opponent with such speed that it surprised the elder, nevertheless he stood grounded. On close range, he posed an attack with the blade of his katana, only for it to have no affect on the other. Furrowing his brows, he slashed his weapon again. The hit was deflected again.

His own attacks didn’t come back to strike him, however. It were as if they got dissolved into nothing. Why was Jun not reacting?

“Fight, you coward!” Aidan gritted through his teeth, pulling himself back to await the other’s move. Jun smiled and raised his arms, and the boy knew what was coming at him.

He nearly dodged the air slashes, one of them hitting his shoulder to leave a cut. He rolled over to the ground and hissed, clutching the site. This was going to be a hard match. He could feel a wet, crimson patch spread out of his injury. The blades were fast enough that he couldn’t dodge them all easily. Jumping back on his feet, the challenger raised his sword to defend himself. Jun moved his arms again, and in no time strong swooshes of wind were bombarding the blade of his weapon.

Despite not being able to see them, Aidan tried hard to calculate how the movements of his opponent’s arm would send the onslaughts, and according to that he either dodged or defended himself.

“Who’s the coward now, hm?” The traitor’s voice mused. Aidan gritted his teeth and closed his eyes so he could vanish in thin air.

(Except the wind wasn’t thin at all. It was thick and so very strong.)

When he appeared again, it was at an angle above the position of Jun, and he swung his sword to hit the other. The attack was stopped by the shield encompassing Jun Hinode, like air molecules coming close to form a powerful blockage. As the strike was blocked, it also sent a heavy impact against Aidan’s body, pushing him away from the elder at a considerable speed. He found himself flying through the air and then felt not the rough ground and patches of grass beneath him to dislocate his bleeding shoulder, but a softer body that pulled him inside itself, until he was hazy and it seemed like floating.

He was submerged in water.

It took a moment to realize his surroundings, to know and be aware of where he was. Suddenly, he couldn’t breathe, his arms and legs flailing about to get him to the surface of the pool. He didn’t hesitate to teleport once again, this time far away from the garden area, near the mansion’s building.

He hid behind a pillar there, bent over his knees to cough out the liquid that had been forced inside his body. He breathed slowly in and out, and sighed. The sky above was turning darker, sun out of sight and hues of orange and yellow were mixing with purples and blues and pinks. Aidan needed another plan.

“Hiding won’t help you, you know,” the voice called out, lighter than air itself. June Hinode was flying a few metres above the ground, probably keeping an eye out for his rival. Aidan looked down at his hands to see no sign of his katana, which made him curse. He had to use his gun now.

Taking position behind the pillar, Aidan fished out his Shadow and pulled back the safety. One hand around the grip, the other supported his hand, and the muzzle was pointed at Jun’s form at a great distance away from him.

Maybe the renegade had sensed the shift in air, for he was turning around. The blackhead wasted no time in pulling the trigger, releasing magic encased projectiles at the other. He shot once, then twice and a few more times, all in one go. As the bullets hit and broke the shield, the boy slowed down time and teleported once more, so he wouldn’t get hit by his own attacks.

When he appeared again, it was right before Hinode. The younger used his combatting skills, combined with time control to land a kick on his back, then another; and when he aimed his gun to fire a bullet, it flew past nothing.

Jun Hinode had activated his mist.

Aidan landed on his feet and huffed, looking around. He had used teleportation three times now, and his energy levels were really low. Nevertheless he picked himself up and ran towards where his sword laid, a few feet away. The gun was in his hand still, grip unfaltering.

The opponent was faster in this form. A fog of air catching up to him as he ran with all his strength. Jun expelled the wind slashes at his rival to wound him and they thumped against his back, causing him to fall on his knees. He probably had deep cuts on his back, as his shirt was dampening. The shotgun was on pile of grass now. His katana was right beside it, but the enemy behind him, solidified and ready to charge.

“I have a question though,” Aidan grabbed the hilt of his weapon and swiveled round to block the wind sword. He was huffing loudly, while Jun was barely hurt, only a bullet graze on his expensive grey fabric and exhaustion on his face. The elder raised a brow for him to go on. “Were you allied to both sides from the start?”

With that, he pushed the prince back and got on his feet again. The plethora of assaults deflected against the weapons, sounds of clashes high in the air as the day got darker and darker. “That’s not for you to know,” Jun huffed and averted Aidan’s next attack to form a mist once again.

“You must’ve been on a safe side, just to see who’s stronger!” Aidan shouted, trying to get a rise out of him. He held his sword up when the slashes came once again. “I heard correct then, your kingdom is independent only in name- uh! The Empire gives you the protection, no?”

The seconds were up and Jun stood before him, his expression lost its cool that had been there in the start. Aidan, without warning, dove on the ground for his handgun and teleported once it was in hand. He slowed down time at the same time, even if it meant a severe reduction in his power. Just one shot, he told himself. The reinforcements were close.

The projectile hit the prince’s shoulder from behind. Aidan appeared in the air and kicked him so he’d be on his knees. Blood slowly made its way to display on Jun’s clothes. A strained noise of agony left his lips.

“Guess you’ll be asked the rest back at the rebellion,” the ebony haired boy said. His opponent was down now, hurt but not disarmed. Aidan walked forward and bent to grab his sword that was now beside the prince. Just then he felt a swoosh of air past him. He got up immediately, turned around to see Jun using his healing wind that brushed over him too, and in no time he was on his feet once again.

“Or maybe I won’t.” He grinned, hands outstretched once again. There they were, those blades of pure wind.

And here was Aidan, healing and ready to take Jun down once again.

Before “said”, I wouldn’t write the two extra words and go so far as to describe Aidan’s hair. It’s okay to repeat pronouns and names as long as you’re not using one of them all the time. Keep in mind that the reader’s not nitpicking your writing and scanning paragraphs word by word for hours on end like you are.

Ah, okayy, I’ll keep that in mind for next time. Thank youu! ^^

So Kab, I take that basically Moon cannot read String-Eye’s thoughts even if she wanted to, yes? Because the veryyyyy little chance of him speaking is in another language. Does he know English? Is there a likelihood of him thinking in English? (That sounded funny lol) and if there is, what would he be thinking, palying host for the challenger??

I think that’s all I have to ask…

Hmm? Why would a shield/deflect and such thing make it hard?

I mean, a powerful defense can be difficult to overcome, but his defense is fairly simple. Maybe I just get used with characters that have much crazier defense.

Ahh… Yeah that might work, but it’s not my style of battle after all. My stories are highly inspired by anime and video game, so I get used with characters having some insanely powerful abilities, which many are highly combat-oriented. So, dealing destructive damage are never a struggle for me, even when I use characters that primarily focused on stealth.

Estelle’s whips can wrap around Jun’s sword, as it would still be ‘solid’ (if that makes sense). But he could easily dissipate the sword and reform it, since it is only air, so I don’t think she’d be able to hold it for more than a second really.

What do you mean? I’d assume since Jun’s attacks are essentially manipulated air, the venom would get pushed back.

6-7

Yes, the shield always deflects any kind of touch. So Estelle wouldn’t be able to do that.

Yes.

The active shield and the passive shield are the same thing. The only difference between them is that Jun is consciously putting the ‘active’ shield up to defend himself.

That depends on how Jun deflects it. He can make it spray everywhere or directly at her, depending on what’s advantageous at that moment in time.

Yes, he is
I would say he’d pull a gun, but he wouldn’t do it straight away, given he is still at work. But if Ryan keeps pushing/threatening him then good ol’ Bill will be pulling out a firearm and calling his colleagues over.

Of course! The guy uses people as meat shields, what do you think? :eyes:

No, he isn’t aware. But even if he did, he wouldn’t really care, considering you’re the same rank. But even then, Silas has been a challenger for longer than your character and refuses to rise up the ranks. So he’d technically be at a higher level anyway. He’s not feeling threatened, which can be a good or a bad thing…

I wouldn’t think he’d have immediate access to his bow and arrow at the start. But I wouldn’t count them out for the entire response! Given I don’t think Evander would go do such a mission without his weapons, he’s open to ‘hide’ them somewhere until he can run and grab them when the fighting’s started. Since I’m pretty sure being inconspicuous matters less when you’ve already been made. Plus, given the nature of the casino, weapons on clients isn’t really unusual. I think the fact Ev has a bow and arrow rather than a gun would draw more attention tbh.

Yes, the casino 100% supports underage drinking and gambling. It’s not a great :upside_down_face:

No. But it is generally expected you don’t go on a murder rampage.

Given she won’t be able to understand what he’s thinking, that’s correct.

He doesn’t think in English  English isn’t his native language (far from it) so he wouldn’t be thinking in a language the challengers could understand.

Yeah this was why I asked  But if you’re saying I’m allowed to use them then I’ll let him. Just gonna have to find a way to write it in lol.

If Estelle slashed at a wind blade with her whips, would it forcibly dissipate Jun’s weapon?

Once again I will suggest a weapon ‘coat’ check

That would work but realistically Ev wouldn’t want to let anyone see his weapon if he didn’t have to (to avoid suspicion) so he’d be more likely to sneak and hide it somewhere like Kab kinda alluded to so I might try to figure that out
