Can you help me understand what happened? [a vent about an experience with an artist]

That looks both chaotic and awesome

What is the gif from?

That’s Jim Carrey in Bruce Almighty.

This kind of blows my mind.

I’m having a hard time believing it was a communication issue because he was able to clearly communicate that he wanted to cancel and you were able to understand him well (outside of his decision to botch the drawing?).

And you’ve seen him draw by hand so that pretty much rules out AI (unless he’s getting lazy and is dipping his toes in that for quicker/easier money).

I can’t really imagine wanting to tank your art account’s rating either, especially when it is probably your livelihood.

At first I thought he might be being lazy and trying to screw you out of your money. I know some artists have a refund policy where you don’t get all your money back after they’ve done so many sketches (usually three). When I read that he said, “Here’s the first sketch and the second” I thought that’s where this was headed. But he refunded it and gave you all your money back so ???

Maybe he’s having some sort of breakdown and is going through stuff or was having a high from pain meds or something not so legal? I don’t know. Those are the only two options that make some sort of sense to me in explaining what happened, but still isn’t a good excuse.

I’m sorry you had to experience this, but I am glad that you’ve found a replacement that is doing your work justice!

Fiverr refunded it. He doesn’t have control over that part.

Yeah, it was a weird experience  So far, everything is going well over there.

Sorry, I meant he put in the cancellation (which I assume leads to an automatic refund). I’ve never used Fiverr DX
