Yes, this mobile game has lore. It’s not super deep, but there’s more than you might expect. It’s also a lot darker than you might expect.

Ryouma has crossed the line from jerkface to sociopath just in his introduction. In almost any other story, he’d be the rival to the much nicer main character.

The worst way to end DBD is with a Jizo ex Machina, where everyone somehow has spent enough time in a Buddist Hell to get reincarnated. I’m sorry if I predicted how the series will end, but the last thing you need is Jizo in your lore. He’d turn the entire world onto its head, making the story not work anymore.
