A lot of yokai are cyclopean.

Iāve only ever read one or two other series where the main protag gets changed. It definitely feels a bit wrong just ditching the first protag and letting another essentially steal their story but usually I stop caring once I actually start reading albeit a bit judgemental of their actions at first.

You can maybe consider that Mac Barronās story till 5th book, then Dani and Ryodanās story starts, where Mac and Barronās are also there but as side characters, they got their story first now as maybe sequel you can say, in the same place, daniās story starts
