I'm starting to ponder the word count for my novel chapters...

Thanks for setting me straight, you guys!

Maybe you need my editor. She told me, just write the story. Don’t worry about word count. And for me, that worked like a switch going off in my head. I stopped worrying because I trust her :stuck_out_tongue:

I was so used to keeping it to around 2500 words or so due to posting on Wattpad. But this story isn’t even going to be on Wattpad, so why am I worrying over it so much?

Besides, if the story is fun for readers, they’re not going to even notice chapters, and I’ve flown through books with paragraph breaks and zero chapters. It was like one long chapter. Sure it was hard to find a stopping place, but I managed :woman_shrugging:

As long as the chapter is solid, it doesn’t matter what the word count is. Tell all you need to tell.

It might be too early for me to get an editor.
Oh, how, I wish.

She does manuscript evaluations to just assess where you could be better, or what you are doing right, and give suggestions for further editing, and it can be a one-time thing.

I just decided to continue on.

So, not too early
