Personally, I'd rather write a standalone than a series!

I always hated how standalones turn into a series. Because a single book can’t give you a story in the eyes of publishers.

You do what the story requires of you. That’s it. Directions from outside sources, personal preferences, all of it means piffle if the story best drives you out of all that direction.
