If you met an actual person who has grown up never listening to music and knows next to nothing about music, what would you say or even do to help that person?

  • I would wonder what type of life this person has been living that they never listened to music.
  • ā€œReally, you never listen to music? Is this real? Are you real?ā€
  • Try to establish a friendship and introduce them to some soothing music.
  • Walk away, walk far away because there is no helping them.
  • Figure out why they don’t listen to music or rather never listen to music.
  • ā€œMusic is a universal and beautiful thing. How do you go through life never listening to a tune or one song? How are you this clueless?ā€
  • Play a song for them just to see their reaction.

I am actually glad two people like Option A. I wonder if that one will get the most votes. LOL!

Option D is starting to catch up. LOL!

Well color me happily unsurprised: most people pronounce it the same way I do

Edin, my protagonist’s name, is pronounced ā€œEE-dinā€ in my story

Options A and D are in the lead…

Depending on the writer, do only certain types of stories require plotting or free writing?

Example: If someone writes romance novels and only read romance novels then decides to write a High Fantasy or Science-fiction novel with some romance elements, would that person need to plot everything, since it is their first time writing in that genre?

Like sure they can pants, but wouldn’t that person get confused along the way and have a harder time with editing the first draft?

  • I think it is better to plot.
  • I think it is better to pants.
  • I think it is better to do both plotting and pantsing.
  • Don’t know in all honesty…

it definitely depends most heavily on the writer. I’m a plantser because i struggle to maintain interest if I plot an entire story in detail, but i also have a tendency to lose focus and write garbage if I plan nothing. The side of the rails you land on is up to your personality, preference, and lifestyle and one isn’t any better or worse than the other.

However I also think genre dictates whether to plot more or to pants more to some extent. Like it might not involve plotting specifically, but I’d say most stuff in the speculative fiction realm requires a degree of planning. You can’t write historical fiction without doing research, full stop. And you should probably develop at least basic worldbuilding if you’re doing fantasy or scifi, it’s really hard to write a cohesive story if you can’t keep track of the rules of the world you’re writing within.

Oh boy long reply coming :joy:

It depends on the writer. This is one of the things we covered in my degree (it was a lecture topic :joy:) Some writers plot heavily and can make it look like nothing was done. Other writers can write incredible stories without having plotted a thing. Just because one does or doesn’t plot or have experience in a certain genre doesn’t mean they won’t be able to write it. Some will, some won’t. Some will do a lot of research, some will be pantsers. It all comes down to the writer, their personal skills and experience, and what works best for them.

Example: I don’t plot any of my novels. I never have. The stuff on my wattpad is all what comes up in the moment for first and second drafts. Even I have no idea what’s going on. But when I get to the later drafts and final versions, that’s when I start plotting. The book I’m doing the final edits on to publish? Didn’t plot any of it until I reached draft 8, The final version is draft 10.

I’m a Science-Fantasy novelist but recently started dabbling in Paranormal-Adventure. Didn’t plot a thing. Didn’t do any research. Making it all up as I go. I’ve also dabbled in writing Romance novels. Didn’t plot a thing. Didn’t do any research (well, nothing I didn’t already know).

I know plenty of published authors (aka some of my former teachers) who have never plotted a thing and have gotten the rank of best seller, or who have gotten some pretty awesome book deals. It really is all about what works for the writer

Wow, I barely hear anything about Firefox.
Didn’t think people still use it, that and Yahoo, MSN, and maybe AOL.

Still, good to know.

I assumed everyone uses Firefox and nothing else. What do you use? And does whatever you use have AdBlock Plus and Ghostery and all those other free apps that keep the internet from being annoying? ĀÆ\_(ļ¢)_/ĀÆ

Either Google or Microsoft Edge. I mostly use Microsoft Edge.

If it does, I don’t use them. So, they might have it then again, I don’t really know.

I’m pretty sure Google Chrome tracks you around the internet, so you might want to get something to block that, unless you don’t mind being spied on. Some people don’t care, but it kinda bothers me. (♯^.^ღ)
