THE WATTYS DEBACLE

At the moment, I am debating between entering the Cay story (as a 50,000+ word completed entry), and the Destiny/G story (as a 20,000+ ongoing story). I also have another Ricky and Mateo story as an idea, as well as Vinnie and Yadriel. I want to work on them all, but I have a limited span of time (and attention).

Out of them all, I am most far ahead with Cay, but the issue is, I don’t know if it will win Wattys because Cay is a middle-aged man trying to find himself. The Destiny story is started, but it’s going too slowly. The Vinnie story is 1k in, and it’s mostly action, and the Ricky/Mateo story is something that can be conjured up very easily.

What do I do? @J.L.O @TheTigerWriter @JojoDahlia @NotARussianBot @Qualeshia12 @Akje and everyone else who can vote/answer.

  • Write them all
  • Do two (ongoing and completed)
  • Focus on one, and finish it
  • Don’t enter anything in

What will happen if you don’t enter the Watty’s this time? Is this a goal you are setting for yourself or is there a goal behind that one?

I am just asking.

It’s a goal that I am setting for myself. I want to see how far I can go.

Ah, I see.

@Churro

Which one brings you the most joy writing? I would go with that one and forget the others.

Which story do you have the best time writing and talking about here when you do?

Just focus on that and see where it takes you.

That’s all the advice I can give. :slightly_smiling_face:

If I had to rate them based on what you said here:

it would be between Ricky and Cay, and the second place would be Vinnie and the third would be Destiny. I thank @TheTigerWriter for helping me develop this idea, and I will write it at some point in the future, but I’m not sure how this will get completed within the time constraints of the Wattys. It’s just not moving along as fast as I want it to.

Cay’s is a story of self-discovery:

Cay Mora has had enough of his mediocre life.

Ever since he divorced his wife, Mara, he’s wanted to get away and start somewhere fresh. Taking all his belongings, he decides to go to Southern Texas for a fresh start with his cousin Jey, and partner Tony, showing up to his party unexpectedly.

In the meantime, he goes on a chaotic journey with Cousin Jey in order to get his life back together.

And the Ricky and Mateo story is one about growing up. It’s a continutation of this:

Ricky and Mateo are both slacking in school and in danger of failing their most feared subjects. After a revelation in a diner, they join forces to pass the school year.

Despite their friends, family, and peers’ disapproval, the duo band together to create their own study group at Mateo’s Dad’s diner, Electric Tacos.

With tension building throughout the school year, hidden secrets and burning romances arise along with the room’s temperature as the duo fight to survive the school year in one piece.

Join them on this hormonal rollercoaster as they come of age in Angel Falls.

(P.S, Don’t worry: plenty of extortion and other nefarious deals will break up the typical monotony of our cheesy high school romance.)

Those are the top two ideas at the moment. Cay doesn’t have as much plot as Ricky and Mateo, but I think that Cay might be a more entertaining character than Ricky and Mateo.

I just realized that you have so many different stories and characters that I am losing track of them all.

LOL!

Like you talked about one story and group of characters then I turn around and you are focusing on some other characters and story. You and me are alike in a few ways, that it’s comical.

LMAO!

For the Wattys, if you want to make it, probably best to focus on one. And make it the one you feel you’ll be able to write the most right now.

Can blind people born without sight see their dreams so vividly?

  • Yes.
  • No.
  • Maybe.

Sorry if this sounds offensive.

They wouldn’t “see” them like we do. They would experience them the same way they experience the world, through other senses.

they don’t see their dreams. they hear and smell and touch and taste their dreams.

if you’d like to learn more, you can listen to David Eagleman’s podcast, Inner Cosmos, where he has a 3 part series on dreams :))

Didn’t think this would get any response because it’s so weird and possibly lacks sense.

I live in an apartment complex, so I can’t open the windows entirely because there’s a screen in it. So, I just lift the windows up and let some air in. Not all the time though, because I just only let the light from the windows in, far as my room.

My one and only window in my bedroom has an air conditioner that comes with the apartment in it and I cannot and will not take that out. So, I just let the light in by opening the blinds and separating the curtains.

That’s all.

Leaving the windows open where I live is a good way to invite mosquitoes, flies, moths, and all sorts of buggies inside, no so

Yeah, I don’t like buggies so there’s that!

Yep!

Should’ve mentioned our windows have screens, so this more applies to windows without them XD
