(but they were childhood friends and he truly cared for her. I’ve watched the 2004 movie and read the book, and I’ve always rooted for him :sweat_smile:)

ngl I’m going through a second phase where I’m listening to its soundtrack and re-watching clips. One of the comments I found is something I agree with:

“Music of the Night” is the Phantom’s love song to Christine. He sings it all by himself, indicating that he is controlling and possessive towards her, and won’t let her be her own person.

“All I Ask of You” is Raoul’s love song to Christine. This is a duet. This indicates that Raoul is encouraging and patient towards Christine, and lets her voice her opinions instead of making her his puppet.

No wonder she chose Raoul.

but phantom dude has been alone his whole life and that’s all he knew. and if it weren’t for him mc wouldn’t have gotten to where she was. I’m not saying it’s right for him to be so controlling or that other dude™ doesn’t care for mc but I’m saying that I feel at that point other dude™ and mc didn’t really know each other and she should have gotten to know him better first because they don’t know how much they had changed. ofc I’m basing what I know from the movie and from what I saw is just that mc and other dude™ met after idk how many years and had a couple conversations before she chose him. I felt that this wasn’t so far to phantom dude because yes he has a bunch of trauma and isn’t a very stable person but he does care for her. and he did trust her enough to show her his face so perhaps she could’ve helped him.

I’d also like to say that I do understand why mc would choose other dude™ and that’s perfectly fine it’s just that Im personally more sympathetic to phantom dude
