I just watched a YouTube video about an artist who claimed she was being harassed by someone in order to sell a lot of stickers. Turns out she faked all the emails. Rabbit hole went deeper, turns out she wasn’t even the artist! It was all totally above board, but I guess the general public doesn’t really know that a lot of designers/artists license content from other artists… and most people don’t really position themselves as “handmade sticker seller” when they aren’t actually drawing the art. Anyway, totally ridiculous.

I just ordered a beachwaver! I haven’t owned a curling iron since I was about 14 and feel too nervous to try my hand with a real one. Only want it to do some faux blowouts, so I hope it works. Got the 1 inch barrel, and I already do my own lazy blowouts at home so I have all the products and tools to, hopefully, get some REALLY BIG HAIR

can’t tell if the screen time weening is working or if i’ve simply been too busy to rack up hours on my phone. at least my daily average is going down. admittedly i’ve just transferred some of that to my laptop but at least i don’t doomscroll on my laptop, i usually play a livestream and converse (and work because it’s way easier to multitask on a laptop than a phone).

Okay why is everyone averse to criticism on Booktube/tok? No one’s really saying how they feel about books, in fact they’re saying nothing at all. It’s so fake. “This book is not for me” or “I don’t get it but it’s soo valid”. What is this? Just sh— on the book my god.
From working at art gallery this year I’ve learnt how to think about art, how to form and express my own opinions. And I’ve learnt to hate… it’s okay to hate. I hate whatever Luke Jerram (artist) is doing… And I hate Brandon Sanderson.

People are sensitive to people disrespecting their books, even if that person genuinely hate it.
Makes them feel like they are the problem for liking a book that their favorite booktoker hates.

It’s the same on YouTube. I’ve noticed it too, and while I have no idea what’s caused it, I’m guessing maybe an influencer got cancelled due to criticizing a popular book with a huge fan base…? So now everyone else is afraid. You know how rabid some of these fandoms are.
