So, tell me, what is on your mind at the moment? (Part 2)

True which is why the synths matter in my opinion

I’m thinking that I can probably pull off writing another first person POV story.
Though I will be telling the story through a character worlds different from Aeris.

I have to redo chapters 5 and 6 again. Didn’t like it at all, was not vibing with those chapters. Far too early for those chapters…sorta.

Yes I know about the FNAF movie 2 releasing today.

No, I am not in any hurry to watch it. I plan to wait and see the reactions—the general audience was quite mixed on the first one, after all.

I’m writing a fight scene and as much as I think I know what I’m doing, I don’t know what I’m doing.

Though I am happily vibing with the chapter.

I want to write something really macho and gay, and probably not for people who like soft boys or college/YA romances. I rarely see older gay people (middle aged and up) in general represented in a lot of modern media.

I thought I’d get back into reading SFF so I picked up Foundation by Isaac Asimov… and uh I hate it. Wtf I’m a hundred pages in and not a single woman has appeared on the page. Not even in the background. And it’s not like women don’t exist in this universe; they’re literally half the population! It’s textbook patriarchy, and Asimov wasn’t trying to say anything about gender dynamics or how ā€œhistory is written by menā€.

I’m sick and baffled by it. I’ve seen people defend it saying it was written in the 1940’s so it was a different time and it was made for a younger male audience. Okay, but that doesn’t explain the absolute lack of women in the book. Didn’t women exist in the 1940’s? And then they go on to say that it’s about the establishment of a frontier and there’s war and politics or whatever. You’re telling me that war & politics is incongruous with ā€œwomanhoodā€? And then they say it’s ā€œsatireā€, which no it’s not. This is patriarchy my guy. I hate it here.

I’ve come to understand science fiction has very little to do with science or the future or possibilities. It’s just a reflection of the time it’s written in, and Foundation, whether intentionally or not, reflects all the worst qualities of that.

Now that Foundation pissed you off, what is your next read?

I’m reading The Accursed by Joyce Carol Oates. Haven’t read any of her millions of books but this is a start. I don’t know much about it, I believe it’s a gothic novel

I’m here as the bearer of bad news. Isaac Asimov wrote a guide for dirty old men to creep on younger women. It is actually titled something along the lines of ā€œHow to be a Dirty Old Manā€.

And while we are here, Arthur C. Clarke was likely a pedophile and lived in Sri Lanka, a haven for NAMBLA members.

I don’t feel like writing right now.
I should probably read a damned book.

Not looking to be inspired per se, I just need to get back into a reading habit.

The only time I have for reading at the moment is right before bed. It’s an excellent way to get sleepy! So I get some reading in and get a good night’s sleep too. (*ļ¼¾-ā€˜) 乃
