This happened a while ago, but I still think about it sometimes; a content creator I watch was doing a livestream while playing a video game, and every now and then he said the game was bad, but he didn’t say how it was bad. As a non-gamer, I thought it would have helped if he said why the game was bad, since it wasn’t obvious to me. Granted, he is a gamer, and is literally playing the game, so I’ll gladly admit he’s more knowledgeable in this department than I am, but it was still annoying that he didn’t say why said game was bad.

As a staunch defender of romantasy, I realised I haven’t read a romantasy novel in a long time…
So I picked up Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey today. And I’m screaming! Like this is what I’m talking about! It is entirely possible to have a smutty romance in a well-built fantasy world that is well written! (Okay, the prose is wordy and flowery in a posturing way but it works.)
More people should be reading this. It would easily demolish most of the popular romantasy titles today. It is on the level of Gabaldon’s Outlander like come on… I need this on my TV screen asap!

Also it’s a travesty that these are the re-issued covers. In trying to appeal to the romantasy book cover aesthetic, it just looks like any other book
