I hope you will give a shot to writing again some time in 2023. Maybe another ONC?
Another shot at the ONC, editing 2 books for Watty and potentially turning my ONC novella into a novel in November-December is my plan for the year.

Omg so many stories! is this novella you’re turning into a novel Maximus or is it going to be the new one you’re writing for ONC 23?
My fiction is just too poor to continue pursuing and it’s a big waste of time, the reviews crushed me and I just don’t enjoy it anymore. I deleted my Wattpad account and got rid of my King Eden stuff. I’m mostly embarrassed about it and wish I never tried. But I am still writing non fiction and focusing on my Ph.D. publications (my degree is in rhetoric).
Awesome! I worked on a collaborate novella for ONC last year. Collaborating on a creative project is always fun and fulfilling. Haha some authors like Lawrence Block warn against it saying that it’s the best way to make an enemy out of a friend. I don’t think that’s the case and I always wonder what happened to the poor guy to make him say that
I wonder as well, but I find it a very good way to keep a friend.
What are you writing now?
I’m a graduate student so I am working on my research. I’m writing my thesis on education in rural North Carolina counties, particularly how lacking it is when teaching cultural humility I.e. it’s overwhelmingly euro American and far behind the more progressive states in terms of inclusivity to no one’s surprise
It’s an isolated and monoethnic culture. Of course it would be less inclusive.
Fwiw, I thought your chapters from the last year’s ONC were really interesting and there was a lot of great ideas and pages there. I hope you will give it another shot. Give it time… but never be embarrassed about writing. Everyone has their own voice and interests. Wattpad is where they come together.
I am still working on the novel version of Maximus. My mom’s reading it for me in the next couple of months to give me a baseline for over complicated words and sentences. Then I can edit it again.
I hope that I can do the same thing with this year’s ONC if there is a prompt that calls to me. If not, I will work on something from my stash instead.
It’s certainly not monoethnic. It has a lot more to do with funding and income than you might think. We have a lot of diversity here which includes the rural counties. It’s the education system that’s very behind and it always has been. That’s why no one’s really surprised
To write for funsies and make creative writing purely a hobby. I no longer want to become a published author. That dream is dead and gone.
Writing is going to strictly be my hobby. I am tired of the stress and worrying. I just want to write short stories and standalone novels for fun.
I can get money some other type of way. ![]()
This is great and I’m happy you’re still able to pursue fiction even if publication is no longer the goal. I also feel as if publishing is a hopeless pipe dream and gave up on it myself—for fiction at least. You really either have it or you don’t, or you have connections. I really admire authors who can still continue working on their craft regardless of success
Thank you very much.
Wishing good things for you in your non-fiction writing endeavors.

All the credits for that ONC novel go to my co author. I helped with some worldbuilding but he shouldered most of the work. It’s success is owed to him.
Happy new year everyone! ![]()
Happy New Year.
Well, if you don’t get any joy out of it then there is no point, I guess.
I’ve “created” a fictional version of planet Earth and named it Gaia (yeah…real original…who cares. LOL!)
On this list of chapter titles that was originally for The Breaker Series that I’ve scrapped entirely (not really), I’ve decided to use the titles for stories set on my fictional planets of Llyria and Gaia.
I got twenty titles to use for the worlds of Llyria and Gaia only.
I did make a folder for stories that are set on Earth or Mars. These stories set on Earth and Mars are going to be real short, fun, and simple.
Llyria and Gaia related stories will be much lengthy short stories and standalone novels (NOT SERIES).
Nothing else to report.
NOTE: I will probably stop using Google Docs to write my fiction stories. Google Docs will be for random mishmash stuff that I don’t care that much about or to hold my random stuff that I can’t print or copy to another document thing.
I will not use Microsoft Word anymore because one I have to pay and two I see no point.
I have three document apps that I can go back and forth between, but not touch Google Docs.
Now, I have nothing else to report…I think. LOL!
Good luck.
Thank you very much and Happy New Years!
Okay, here’s my rant:
So in the last week 2022, I got back into an old project called Letters from an Angel (it’s not a fantasy, it’s a dramatic queer romance) after talking to the mother of a friend of mine who ||died of cancer|| (hence I’m writing the book – well technically I started the original project to cope with the loss of my father and honor him.) I have the first chapter revised and expanded, and the second chapter is written. But I’m not sure how to write chapter three.
It’s 75 chapters long, and Chapter 2 is two scenes long and is 4.2K words long. I’m happy to write it, but I don’t know where to go next. I know this sounds petty and chaotic, but I am chaotic because I don’t plan, and it’s gruesome to plan every detail out.
