Struggling Writers’ Daily Den: rant, share, complain, ask, daily progress thing (Part 2)

How many papers is it? Are people itching to go next after you?

171 but i double-sided it so 86. and no, no one was waiting to use it. but there were two library staff quietly minding their business at the desk four feet away so i felt a little watched

and then i had to haul my stack over to the front desk to pay. neither of the women working there batted an eye so maybe lots of people do that :see_no_evil:

debating how much “classic” vampirism i should incorporate into my vampires.

okay, technically, right now i’m just debating the garlic allergy. I probably won’t include it as an real allergy but if I remember correctly the garlic myth spawned from the Everyone Has Tuberculosis era of vampire lore and ye olde doktors gave people garlic to wear to “ward off vampyrs and evil spirits” aka deathly pale Mary and her extremely contagious lung disease, so, i think it would be funny if the older vampires were averse to garlic simply because they had to live through a few decades where everyone reeked of it all the time and it did a really bad job of covering the additional Death Scent.

The cover situation has been resolved (so far, at least) and Part I has been published. The easy part is over. The marketing of said work in progress, however… we shall see about that

So, yeah, here is the thing.

Alagossia is a fictional magical and technologically advanced world.

Yet, I have a crazy yet interesting story idea that goes a bit like this (a total blast from the past-ish):

Summary

A thousand people from different backgrounds are taken away from their homes and situations then are placed in a massive labyrinth and have to try reach the end in order to return back home. Yet inside the labyrinth, there are many twist, turns, and doors that lead to random places that can trap them in there forever or ruin them along with monstrous foes and bloodthirsty killers. However, little do they know, once they leave the labyrinth, the horrible game continues even outside, causing them to lose their sanity and more importantly their lives, as they struggle to figure out what is really happening.

Finished another chapter of The Rat Girl. Yay.

Quite like this part:

Instead, she was here to face her mother in battle.

It’s ridonkulous. She smiled to herself. But I won’t have to run anymore.

“Whatever the reason,” Marcus broke the silence, “I’m glad you’re here. Least, for now.”

The words were a hug around her shoulders. She turned to Marcus as he stood. Vivienne wanted to say something to him, but “thank you” didn’t feel right and rambling about her past with her mother wasn’t right either. Words stuck in her throat.

I’m trying to explore subtext.

It’s hard.

Me: Alagossia, why are you constantly changing and expanding depending on the story? Nothing is never truly concrete.

Alagossia: What do you want from me?! I’m growing and most of the time you don’t even have a clear direction! Leave me alone!

Me: Fine! Whatever! Just don’t call me out on my bullshit! I am dealing with a lot of stuff!

Alagossia: :unamused:

Decided to experiment on Wattpad on a whim. I’ve added music to each chapter of Part I of Wonderland.

Sorry for the late reply.
What is the spacing and font size? Just curious.

np! it’s 11pt calibri at 1.5 spacing (with 11pt calibri bolded chapter headings and 9pt calibri page numbers at i think .9cm header + 0cm footer), set to justified with margins of 1.9 cm on every edge.

that’s strictly for this printing because i needed as few pages as possible while still being readable/markable, for affordability and environmental purposes.

Ah, I see.
Thanks for mentioning that.

Isn’t the font Calibri the thin version of Arial or am I crazy?

Ramble:
I have ADHD that has been untreated, but this is from self-realization, self-discovery, and browsing through some old medical documents.

Moving on, I know that working on getting a better handle and grip on this issue needs work, but while I am still working on that, I need to figure out my writing a bit.

And yes, I TOTALLY get that a person handles and tackles things differently than the other person with or without ADHD.

Question:
Is there a writing schedule that I can use that is ADHD based? I just need one that will not only make sense, but also one that I really focus on and follow through.

@J.L.O

Yes there is some, although I don’t apply it all:

Basically, you break down your writing into anippits of time instead of large blocks. This is how I write, and average over 1K a day when in the mood: when in the zone, I write, when not, I write a sentence or two and go play a game then write a sentence or two–all day long.

I don’t exercise beforehand, but that does work for a lot of ADHD because it fixes the hyperactive issue

So, browse some of this?

But I will say a designated time doesn’t really work, especially without deadlines you answer to someone else over.

well, they’re both default sans serif fonts and calibri is thinner than arial. so, close enough ig

Wow, I did not know that.
Great to know!

I was wondering and sorry for the late reply, have you ever tried a timer technique for your writing?

Like I would like to try that pomodoro method thing, but when I try it, I get a bit out of sorts because I try it for a bit then get bored or can’t bring myself to do it.

I just like writing different stories at the most random times whenever I feel like it.

I get hella discourage when I have to write a bunch of stories that I actually WANT to focus on, but just make a daily or weekly schedule routine to stick with.

I am going to take bits and pieces from the article in the best way I can.

A timer would take me out of it as I’m more sound sensitive the older I get.

That makes sense.
It would either make me want to continue on if I can or get distracted by random nonsense.

A metronome may work better as it’s an even sound and you would get anxious to write u til you tune it out.
