I could be stretching and overthinking a bit, but I genuinely am curious about that.

ud be surprised how things work, i do better doing two stories as i do a little on each story then switch to the other. I find it helps cause ur not stuck on just one problem issue with that is ur focus switching so ur kinda unsure where u are in story

When it comes to working on two stories at once, I cannot as I need to have one story take my time and energy. The only way I can focus on two is when I am not in the right head space for the one I am currently working on at the moment.

What I am saying is that I am a bit better at writing first person than third person limited. Then again I could be saying that to make myself feel good.

This is random but the whole Audra Winter debacle (I’m sure you all know who she is) and her book (yeah, I have seen some examples of the writing, and we all got nothing to worry about there…) is not the best. She’s using a lot of complicated words thrown together in a mish-mash of… sentences? (If you want to call them that).

It made me think of the KISS principle. I think most people would rather read a good story with simple, but effective and understandable prose rather than muddy purple prose (yes, I know some purple prose works for certain stories, but it is a specific type of story).

People don’t want to be taken out of the story world with long, almost nonsensical run on sentences and poor grammatical choices. They want to be absorbed into it in any way possible.

Yes, I understand that her story is her baby and she has been working on it for ten years, and she has an attachment to her story, but it’s not up to par in the writing department. She should have focused her time and effort on making sure the story was sellable, then got people interested in her world/story.

I think that a lot of modern aspiring authors get absorbed into the hype of their own creation on social media, or in their own heads over creating quality novels, especially on BookTok. I’m not saying not to hype it up, but I think that there should be more of a balance between hype and bettering your works/making good stories.

If you can manage to do that, I think that’s the main thing. It might take a bit of time, but spending some time on making a system that works for you and creating a foundation to follow is more solid than favouring one over the other.

Well, that was part 61, which I started this morning. I only have two hundred words down so far. I’m going to take a break from writing for a bit to spend some time with my lovely partner and to have a little time to chill before writing more, plus I have a few things I have to do as an adult today, and be a part of society

My last poetry challenge will be a villanelle.

I want to write “villainelle” so bad XD

But the rhyming scheme is going to possibly restrict the whole rest of the poem.

Thankfully, I found a good website that breaks it down nicely and gives helpful tips.

I’m in the process of editing and revising my second draft of Project Succession.

I finally have a time of year when the story takes place for Project Succession.

The year is going to be set in 5095 SSE (Saint Soliania Era).

im guilty of the sin of doing talking heads vs actually describing the scene, I was doing the scene up as I was telling it this time and I think it works better as the u can actually visualize the characters interacting with the environment. The scene im working on is a R rated and im doing it more like an action scene where u can get a feel for how everything is even down to the smell

I’m about 40 words away from my writing goal of 500 words for today, and I’m very happy with myself for getting it done. It helped that instead of going against my adhd, I actually took breaks and even did more detail in the section

I finally figured out my story but I don’t have a title for it.

I wrote a villanelle!

Thanks to the website I found, it wasn’t too bad. Actually it was easier than the blank verse :stuck_out_tongue:

Just sharing this first attempt. Oh, and it’s my 800th poem

The Diver (a villanelle)

Deep into the waters we dive
to rebel against our natural gravity
and find a new way to be alive.

It’s not as if we didn’t strive
to live above the rippling sea.
Deep into the waters we dive.

We crave freedom and drive
away from the urban city,
and find a new way to be alive—

to release and fill our five
senses, we submerge to be free.
Deep into the waters, we dive

into aquatic silence and thrive.
We ignore your unsolicited pity
and find a new way to be alive.

We release heavy weight. We’re revived
and made anew in the ocean. Free!
Deep into the waters we dive,
and find a new way to be alive.

Yay

I know I did write one, but it’s nice to know from someone else’s perspective

I’ve never heard of a villanelle before, but I like how the middle lines all rhyme with one another while all the other lines in each stanza rhyme with those in every stanza. So different from every other poem I’ve read! (ღ˘ᴗ˘ღ)
