“Left into the forest, right into the empire of the wealthy” is a non-essential clause, and the commas are substituted with em dashes. That’s fine.
When you remove a non-essential clause, the sentence should still make sense. In this case, when you remove it, it reads:
“The road split the blemish of Arcanland”
It doesn’t make sense. I believe the “blemish of Arcanland” refers to the “empire of the wealthy”. In which case, remove the dash and add a comma. I’d restructure the entire sentence tbh.
Yeah, it is definitely unclear, but I think it’s meant to read how you’ve put it: The road split the blemish of Arcanland. As in, the blemish called Arcanland.
My brain is jumping around again. It’s October, a certain niche of mine is making me the most money and I can absolutely make a novella for that niche that fits with Halloween, kinda. But I already have 2 projects for other pennames!!! Aaaaaaaaa
I would say it is worth the price. It works great with Scrivener (and also Word, and a bunch of other stuff - but I mainly use it with Scrivener now as the desktop app has been deprecated). 60GBP or so for the year and it makes editing much faster, in my opinion. Not everything it says is correct, but you can tailor it to your work. The desktop app is much better in my opinion, so I still have it installed just in case they remove the installer at some point. You can set the genre, compare your work to a specific author in said genre, look at pacing, structural issues etc. Much quicker than doing it manually (I do not use PWA on client work - only my own)
That’s cool. Sometimes it’s necessary to be genre specific
I use Word only right now, but I’ve thinking some kind of editing tool might be nice to have. I do sometimes put things into grammarly (free version). Have you used grammarly?
I have unfortunately used Grammarly It’s wrong most of the time. It’s okay for typing emails (it still makes mistakes here, though), but if you’re writing anything slightly more serious, fiction or otherwise, use something better. PWA has a free version but I can’t say how good it is as I just got the subscription. I think being able to set the genre is a really good feature. Obviously, this is not all the things you can set it to, but a small snippet.
No problem. It’s expensive, but you can get good savings for Black Friday. Maybe you can try the free version or a month of the sub, just to see if it works for you
