Struggling Writers’ Daily Den: rant, share, complain, ask, daily progress thing (Part 2)

Now The Little Mermaid I remember, with beautiful illustrations of the dagger and seafoam suicide situation.

Yeah, which is fair enough. Very readable, I agree. Maybe a bit too readable, but I guess it’s like binge watching a TV show. Started to binge Only Murders In The Building and it was so easy to get through. Enjoyed it a lot.

LOL fair enough. At least you could rant about it after, and you reading it wasn’t all in vain. And you got something enjoyable from it.

Yeah, lol. I only tried one, and no more. I don’t see the big deal with Casey’s books, but that’s just me. I mean, each of the chapters in One Last Stop averages 7k words. Not even joking.

Gosh, so tired.

Turned out, I missed a chapter in my readings :smiling_face_with_tear: yeah, it is a sure sign I should start reducing the clubs. I kinda like all of them though.

For the Fireman’s Girl, I am at 61.8K, wrote the scenery for the final confrontation, and too tired to write final confrontation.

Also some fact checking forces me to go with a different final final bit, but that’s okay. I can wring out drama from anything.

It’s release day for my trad. published book! Just seeing it live on Amazon is INSANE. The journey has been crazy, and I’ve been on anxiety meds for how long they’ve messed me about, but it’s worth it seeing it out there now.

Now to sit back and wait for people to review (hopefully)

The publishers havent updated their site with it yet, nor have they promoted me on social media, and they’re meant to be sending me my own copies today but have I heard from them? HA NOPE.

I’m done. It’s now out so it’s whatever

Thank you for sharing! I was approached by those guys a while ago and was considering them, but after hearing your experience, nope.

No worries! I kinda feel bad about sharing but they have treated me and their other authors so awfully I’m not gonna keep quiet if people ask. The new manager lady, to be fair, has sorted it all out and she seems to be okay, but on the whole it’s just basically ruined what should have been amazing. I’m more relieved than excited now XD I’m just hoping it’s a step to a better/bigger deal in the future fingers crossed

I am glad it got sorted out! But yeah, I just don’t feel like ‘losing’ a book for nothing. They wanted Rivals and Revels, and it’s the only book I have on Wattpad that gets even marginal engagement atm on its own, so nah. And, i am pretty sure they would reject To Marry the Dragon once they actually see what it is, lol.

Definitely don’t go for it! My book is my most viewed though it’s slowly gaining another one now but it was such a hassle and if I hadn’t signed the contract it probably would’ve got me creators quicker. But it’s sorted now so I can’t complain lmao.

Yeah, I dunno. I’m just going to stick to writing for now, then maybe try to promote more, but I suck at it.

Anyway, about to go to work, but I re-laid out the last 2 chapters more or less to account for changes I had to make because of pesky REALITY destroying my cool ending, lol.

Which means I didn’t do today’s editing yet. Since the lay out is a skeleton writing, I won’t be reporting word count till I actually finish. I know, ya’ll heartbroken here.

My mom’s coming on 23rd (I think) so I have to hassle to finish it before this, so I can spend time with mom and not worry about writing. It will also help me decompress and re-read Jilted by the Mafia to get back into it.

Ran into one of my friends whom I had loaned a hard copy of my book to, and she vehemently insisted I let her buy it from me instead of giving it back. Take that, Wattpad reviewers :stuck_out_tongue:

You have good friends!

I am wondering if anyone would pick up any of my short stories on the charity sales at work, heh.

Alright, I am going to watch some studying videos on YouTube while I write like I used to months ago. Don’t know why I stopped but I need to get into the habit of writing to some nice background noise. Anime is great and all, but when I watch an anime series. I rather have that be my only focus. I rather no multi-task in that way.

I am going to do a chapter summary for chapter three then start the third chapter.
Got nothing else to add. So, goodbye for now.

If I ever release a book, don’t put it on GoodReads lol. Some of the reviews on there are awful, and even contradictory.

One of my writer friends tried selling me his anarchist experimental fiction to me once. I said no thanks. I was kinda taken aback, because me and my gaggle of eclectic writer friends (an old lady writing a memoir for her kids, a gay dad writing a memoir for his podcast, and a self-help dude) were with him in Bloomsbury summer last year when he was workshopping it. I don’t wanna be an a hole who thinks he’s entitled to friends’ works for free but like come on… I thought we we close. I’d have given a free copy if it was me.

Free and signed.

But yeah, he should have given you it free. I would give all my friends a free one.
