Topic 7: Education System
What’s the education system like? How do people learn stuff? Are there schools? Are there teachers? Is school a must? What do people get after graduation? Are there ranks? Tell me all about the education system of your world, your fictional country, or the era of your choice for stories.
Mine:
The only well-thought out education system I have is the one in Elgana for my Sorcerer race. How a Sorcerer controls their magick and gets different ranks is all stuff that happens during their schooling at the Academy. There is only one Academy. They learn all the basics, and controlling magick.
Magick control is usually determined by the manifestation of a Faud. A Faud is the manifestation of the Sorcerer’s magick. Once Apprentices can successfully summon their Faud at will, they are allowed to advance to Junior level studies and further strengthen their magick muscles.
The ranks: Apprentice, Junior, Scholar, Professor, Arch
From Apprentice to Scholar you can get during the school years by passing various tests. Professor is for those Scholars who want to pursue further education and who want to teach, but not all Professor ranks teach. Some Professors just use their Professor status to manipulate old spells and create their own book of advanced spells and sell it (Scholars can also create new spells from old spells, but not allowed to profit off of it).
Arch is chosen by a committee of Professors and Archs. Some Professors or Scholars can get an invitation to become an Arch if they are seen as worthy of the title.
Very few get the privilege to become this rank. Archs can retire from being Archs but by then, they’ve become quite rich (maybe they might teach for a high sum or give a talk for a lot of money or do a demonstration for adoring fans willing to spend, or maybe do some magick research and publish their findings for easy money). Former Archs are just as renowned as current ones.
