Thirteen Questions for you to answer about your main character(s)!

Krista Gallant responses.

Either the intruder is dead, or they will soon be dead. If my friends are hurt, the idiot’s family will join them beneath the dunes ~ Krista’s thought process.

Rusalka, Sirens, Valkyrie, (Israeli) Red Riding Hood.

Morning. Although, since Krista’s addicted to Bedouin black tea, she more of a “someone please take her damn batteries out” person.

Least favourite: winter. The desert is an open-air freezer for most of the day and night. Favourite season: spring. Best time to enjoy the (muscle-bound) bounties and beauty of life without melting under the summer sun…and the less said about the summer humidity the better…

Hospitals and being admitted as a patient. Krista has lost more family friends (mercenaries and soldiers) to hospitals than to the wars they fight in. Krista will do anything to avoid being a patient, even if her injuries need surgery.
Krista also suffers from severe survivor’s guilt and fear of abandonment, but her symptoms are hidden / disguised by her abrasive confronting humor.

Krista’s mother is a Russian mercenary, her father is a German mercenary, and she was born and raised in Israel…among other mercenaries…There is no end to Krista’s opinions, and no mute button.

Rich Jewish / Israeli and European food. No fast food or junk food. Quality in vast quantity.

The death of Krista’s older brother, Gur, whose loss changed Krista’s nature. Krista considered Gur’s death to be an act of betrayal and a declaration of war by the (outside) adult world.

Wait.

Add another chapter to the Geneva Convention.

Are you tired of living? ~ Krista.
You do know my mama’s a sniping instructor, right? ~ Krista’s inner voice.

An honorary Sabra (Jewish-Israeli), a devoted friend and perpetual brat, an adult-in-miniature whose humor would make a merchant sailor blush, a little Mother Hen / chutzpah-fueled minx as generous as she is fearless, repays kindness and betrayal with interest, likes to dress as if attending an adult-orientated Monaco fashion show, and acts as if no one has the willpower or courage to stop her.

Complies while mentally noting all of the robbers’ available identifying information and / or activates an encrypted GPS tracker on her phone, finds a nearby reservist, borrows their phone, and calls her parents (or Aunt Karen or Dov).* By the next morning Krista’s possessions will be returned, and some desert critters will have an unexpected feast.

*Families of Krista’s (well, Karen’s) wealth usually don’t call the normal authorities for such issues, because the families don’t want the issue’s resolution recorded on any official documents. Family business is handled within the family.

Krista’s father, or Dov, probably…

Leander: Not this again
Eliza: This better not be Leanders fault

L: He has very Hades vibes but he has some lose inspiration from the story of Leander and Hero
E: Persephone though a bit of Hero

L: More of a night owl but he also is just an insomniac in general
E: She’s real sleepy so neither lol

L: Hates summer loves fall
E: Hates winter loves spring

L: Scared of drowning and heights. He’s very much a “my feet belong on the ground as intended kind of guy.” Though it doesn’t stop him from doing dumb things. s
E: Being alone, she makes a lot of bad choices because of this

L : He is, and will share them when he feels like the company is deserving
E: Sometimes, but she tends to keep them to herself.

L: He’s a real meat, bread and fancy food kind of guy. He grew up pretty spoiled. Though he tends to get pretty busy and skips meals. Also travels often and light so he tends to not have much on him at a given time. So a lot of hunting, bartering and buying.
E: She loves comfort food, but due to her being functionally dead has to eat in moderation to feel like crap.

L: Watching his family die and being tortured.
E: Dying

L: Many many people and very often. He doesn’t regret killing anyone at this point. Most of them gave him a reason to. But some of them just were in his way.
E: Not yet.

L: Murder
E: Run

L: Mostly ignore them, he’s pretty used to it. Though, on occasion he’ll threaten those who really annoy him
E: She’d be pretty upset, probably over think it and hope Leander didn’t notice because he’ll turn it into a big thing.

L: Most characters fear him and think he’s crazy, dangerous and rude. Others think he’s brave and a gentleman. Eliza thinks he’s dramatic and dangerous but finds the rest of him to be really redeeming.
E: Most people think she’s plain and awkward. Caspian thinks she’s a traitorous coward and a bad woman. Leander thinks she’s smart, sweet and sometimes feisty and enjoys drawing the worst out of her.

L: Violence, threats, and sheet intimidation factor
E: She’ll probably yell about it and Leander would make sure to right it before she has a chance to figure out what to do.

L: Lord of his territory, though he mostly just makes sure the people in charge of running it are doing as they should. And dealing with the outside threats. Him avenging his people is more or less what put him in Eliza’s path.
E: Kind of left her job behind when she died and left her world.

(Using Kierra, because she’s my fav)

  1. Kierra’s home is in the middle of a forest preserve owned by a Werewolf Alpha who she constantly butts heads with. Her home is her den that usually houses around 13 other people (it’s a large house), that’re either Shifters or other Were-animals (and 1 human). To walk in and see blood on the floor, she’d probably assume the guys were wrestling around at first, depending on the amount. If it’s significant she’d instantly go into defense mode & start hunting. If it’s one of the adult’s blood, she’ be worried but not overly concerned, but if it were to belong to any of the kids she houses, then she’d be out for blood herself.

  2. Hmm, Kie is already a Werewolf, and there are times it’s like she has qualities of other animals, but I can’t think of any other mythological creature she’d be akin to. Well, maybe a dragon with her hoarding mentality for books, but that’s about it, lol

  3. Definitely a night owl. Though she tries to split the difference since she cares for kids. Well, pre-teens & teenagers, but still. School dwelling adolescents. There we go.

  4. Summer. She hates summer. Kie hates the heat. Becoming a werewolf just compounded that as it raised her normal high core temp even higher, so she’s miserable most of the time. She absolutely loves Winter and Fall/Autumn. She was the type of person to go out in shorts and flip flops when it was snowing.

  5. Ya. June bugs and centipedes. Nothing funnier than seeing a 7ft tall Werewolf in ‘monster’ form freaking out and being chased by a June bug. She also has a fear of dark water. If she can’t see the bottom, she won’t get into it. Wouldn’t say any of them have impacted her life that much, but they sure make things interested in certain situations.

  6. Kierra is very opinionated. She won’t always share as she isn’t the most chatty of people depending on the situation, but if it calls for it, she won’t stand still. One of Kie’s defining moments in this series is her standing up to the council because she doesn’t care for how they’re running things and vows to change it all. It’s also what puts her in the crosshairs of a whole lot of bad people.

  7. Welp… Kie is a thicker chick. She loves her bread. She loves her chocolate. Finding out she could still have it even being a canine was a serious highlight. Becoming a Werewolf means her intake of meat has seriously increased, especially since she has a knack for getting injured. She isn’t one for fancy, she grew up middle/low class, so she appreciates the value of a dollar. It also helps that they live in a preserve and can hunt on four feet often.

  8. Trauma and Kie go hand in hand. Kierra was molested when she was a child and put into the foster system with Faline at young ages. This shaped them both to the people they are. She was also a victim of bullying during her years in middle school, which helps her identify with the various kids she takes in.

  9. Oh yeah. That’s kind of become her unofficial job. A vigilante dispensing justice to human & child traffickers that she hunts down. While she doesn’t ‘regret’ it persay, she does sometimes wonder if the satisfaction/pleasure she takes/gets in killing them makes her psychotic

  10. She smiles. Kie doesn’t react to a lot of things how people would think one should or what would be considered ‘normal’. After becoming a Werewolf, she stops even trying to appear normal and embraces the fact that she just isn’t society’s version of normal. Never was and never will be.

  11. Laugh and get just as snarky back if she bothers acknowledging them at all. It’s usually the ones with her that have to pull her away from situations like that because she will escalate them to where the other person will throw the first punch. She never does, she knows better, but that doesn’t stop her from having fun with them. This didn’t happen as often till after she became a Werewolf though. Then it just happened more often

  12. Kierra is the Silver Wolf. In passed down stories the Silvers are revered. They only show up in times of need, of Change. They were healers, shamans, or types of priests/priestesses. Known for their wisdom and aiding the Clans (Shifters) and Packs (Were-animals).
    That isn’t Kie.
After learning that Silver’s have a whole lot more to them and others are expecting all this stuff from her, it just annoyed & frustrated her. Because not only do the Silver’s have a limited life-span thanks to them getting killed off before they can become too powerful, they’re on rocky ground with other Alpha’s because the loyalties of wolves especially can be called into question.
So, Kie goes her own way, does her own thing, which just tends to piss people off even more, as she isn’t following their game plan. However, those that do know her and are close to her, have pledged their lives to her because they believe in her and what she’s trying to do.

  13. This sort of happened, actually. Guy wanted her car keys, but she wasn’t havin’ it. She kept him busy by monologuing and keeping his focus off his gun hand while she concentrated her magic ability to build up ice in the barrel, causing it to misfire when he finally went to shoot a warning shot at her. It didn’t go well for either of them.

  14. Bonus~ Kierra started out as a writer, but had to hang it up because of everything that was going on. She’s also an artist, which is what she keeps up with as much as possible. While not anywhere near as lucrative as being a best selling author, it brings in funds. It also helps supplement along with what everyone else brings in to keep their home
