That’s very interesting, love the drama xD Sounds like a funny exchange. Do you have that scene written anywhere? :eyes:

Mm, I don’t know. I tend to get bored really quick haha. Thanks, I hope so!

:suggestive:

Oh, they always do that xD They never come when you want them to, but they barge in at the wrong moments.

Oooh, that should be fun :eyes: And no, not really. :joy: I mean, I knew you mentioned something about him being energised by blood and all but I didn’t expect it to be so soon. xD I thought the gory part was going to involve him being injured or something o.o

HAHAHA YESSSS LET’S GO XDD

Oh my goodness, that’s hilarious xD Comparing him to a Magikarp.
But yeah, I know of her! I’ve rooted for her a few times before haha.

So true :joy:

See you!

In my head, if that counts  like, I can type it down and show you if you want.

Exactly! This is why I procrastinate on studying sometimes

Sometimes when I think of him, I’m reminded of sharks. Why? Because whatever you do, you should not bleed XD although if he has nothing against you, you don’t have to be worried at all. I mean, when Arden got injured and bled during that battle against Damon, Edin didn’t attack her—he attacked her attacker :joy:

He’s scary when he’s in that mode, not going to lie. I just can’t wait to write the parts where he becomes bloodthirsty and the people watching him are just shocked and terrified, like “Is this the same person?” :joy: I even wrote a line from the battle against Damon because I kept thinking about it.

Speaking of which, III is already up on Wattpad (and Wacky)! You can unhang yourself from the cliff (geddit? Because you commented “Ahhhh, cliffhanger >.>”) IV is half-finished as well  that’s mainly because of the dinner scene. It was supposed to be in III, but I moved it to IV because I added something else and didn’t want to make the chapter too long. I’d say IV is best read before a meal.

And I’m back :joy:

Anyway, I’m just really curious—when and why did you start rooting for Medvedev? I know I’ve talked about him quite a bit in my personal thread (I even have a post detailing his 2019 USO redemption arc :joy:) but I want to know if that somehow influenced you? If I preferred a different ATP player and talked about him in my thread instead, would you still root for Med the same way you do now?

EDIT: I gotta say, your personal thread post describes me right now. I really need help :joy: I swear, the amount of coincidences that we share is funny.

EDIT 2: My game thread got approved! let’s hope it doesn’t die XD

EDIT 3: Remember when we talked about all the pianists in my university being miles ahead of me? Well, for some reason, this week I came across three who weren’t miles ahead.

One was playing on the piano outside my dorm. He was just playing a bunch of low notes repeatedly, and occasionally he pressed some high notes as well. I thought he was building up to some sort of melody or climax but that didn’t happen. It sounded like he was just messing around. To be fair, he probably was. Although I much prefer the “messing around” of the jazz pianist I met in music class XD

There was also a person in the other practice room (the one with the good upright Kawai) who was also good, but not prodigy level. I think she was practicing sight-reading from a music lesson booklet, because some of the pieces she played sounded like stuff I would see from those piano lesson books. I think she practiced the first part of Debussy’s Arabesque, but unlike the girl who practiced the Arabesque on the Estonia while I was on my toilet run, that girl practiced slowly and only in sections, like only the ascending part and stuff like that. She reminded me of the time I first attempted the mystery piece (btw, I think I’ll be able to move on to the next part next week!)

The third one played on the public piano that I played on in front of my orientation group. So he wasn’t bad at all. He was good, in fact. He just made a lot of mistakes when playing a certain piece.

It was as if the universe decided to stop crushing my self-esteem and let me bump into pianists who weren’t prodigies for once :joy: but that’s three non-prodigy pianists versus… more than ten masters :joy:

Oh, no worries, you don’t have to if it takes a lot of time. xD Just curious.

Yikes :fearful:  What’s the line?

Yes, I read it! It’s cool seeing things from Arden’s perspective. But I still don’t know what will happen next >.> You end the chapters right at the part where you want to know more  I’m looking forward to the dinner scene :eyes: Interesting conversations always seem to happen at dinners.

I don’t know, actually, but it was sometime after you mentioned him. Before the redemption arc post. I mean, I don’t remember exactly what drew me to him but he seemed like an interesting character. But yeah, you talking about him did influence me :joy: Hmmm, I don’t know  I mean, you basically introduced all those players to me because I had zero knowledge beforehand :joy: so if I didn’t know anything about Med that would obviously be different. I feel like if you did talk about another player, it would have some influence, but it depends on the player too. Like, their personality and style and other stuff comes into play as well :joy: But, say, if you had mentioned him a few times and then stopped, and switched to another player, I would probably still root for him xD

Wow, another one :joy: Well at least I’m not alone in feeling that way.

Oooh :eyes: What game is it??

Ayyy, there we go  Yeah, there are always pianists of varying levels everywhere. See, you’re not terrible at all.

Yess, good job!!!

 :+1: That’s kind of like a coincidence as well, since we were talking about it xD Interesting. Perhaps you’ll see some more of those lying in wait.

It’s not that long. It’s just a bunch of dialogue and I’m a fast typer anyway :joy:

But if you’re curious…

“I want a name.”

“Why do you need a name?”

“Because I want to be different from other books.”

“You already are different, Bookie. You’re literally the only book that can talk in this world.”

“That’s not enough. I want a name.”

“Okay. I’ll call you… Livre.”

“That’s just French for ‘book.’”

“Exactly! Aren’t you one?”

“That’s the equivalent of me calling you ‘human.’”

(cue a montage of Brandon bossing his book around and it calling him “Human” instead of “Brandon”)

“Hey, Livre, can you make me some coffee?”

“Yes, I can.”

“Great. Make me a cup and bring it here.”

(The book makes a mess in the kitchen since it doesn’t have hands to do the task neatly)

“Bookie! What the (swears) I thought you said you can make me a cup of coffee!”

“I did. You didn’t say anything about doing it neatly.”

“I can’t believe you.” (sighs) “Fine, you want a name? I’ll give you a name, Livy.”

“I want a masculine name.”

“Oh come on, so you’re a man now?”

“No, but I’m stuck with a man’s voice thanks to you being my first owner. I might as well have a masculine name to match.”

“Fine. Louis. How’s that?”

“I quite like it, actually.”

If that actually makes it to any of my books (doubt it will) the scene might be a bit different.

It’s this. But first, thought it would be better if I gave context.

Imagine you’re Arden. You’ve been mentoring this guy who’s been nothing but sweet, innocent, and gentle. The two of you are facing off against your most powerful enemy and he instantly gets knocked out of the battle. Then you get injured and bleed.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, this “innocent” guy enters a blinding rage and even manages to cut your mortal enemy’s skin. Upon doing so, he does this:

Edin let out a cry of ecstasy. “Yes, bleed!”

Would you not be terrified? :joy:

Thanks! Glad you liked it! I didn’t know that my chapters had those kinds of endings.

If you haven’t noticed by now, I’m trying to keep them within a certain word count. Right now they’re hovering around the 2000s. I don’t want them to be freakishly long like in Book Two :joy:

Ah, I see. Yeah, he really is an interesting character. He had the guts to willingly become the bad guy  I was curious about him when he won Cincinnati, because I was following his progress on Reddit. Then the 2019 USO came and I was like “This is the guy I’ll root for” :joy: and even more when I saw that he just kept on winning or making finals. I love the memes as well. They’re golden

The “Name a musician with the last letter!” thread.

Thanks!

Maybe. Maybe they’ll reveal themselves more in the same way the good pianos only revealed themselves later in my quest XD

I like that, if you ever include it I will devour it up

Eesh, yeah that would be frightening  I feel like I would not want to be there to see it. xD

Mm, makes sense. I mean, I didn’t really mind it being that long in Book Two, honestly. Because it was interesting to read :joy:

Yes, exactly :joy: You gotta admire him for that. The memes are hilarious too

Ooh, cool! I used to join those naming threads way back, but now I’ve sort of stopped  probably because I’ve been living under a rock for my whole life so I have no idea what half of these names are xD plus, it sometimes gets repetitive, like with the naming names thread. But your musicians idea is cool, I might stalk it a bit. If I have anything that pops up in my head at the right time then I’ll join xD

Haha, yes, perhaps :joy:

Thanks  the word “devour” is making me think of IV XD

Thanks! Glad it was able to hold your attention despite being long. Although, some people aren’t like that so that’s why I want to make it shorter :joy: maybe in BWB I’ll relax the word count to 2000–3000 words since it’s a sequel, so I don’t have to worry as much about retaining an audience. If it’s the first book, though, I’ll have to mind my word count

Hope you join in! I also stated that names of musical groups and composers are allowed, so if someone names a musician whose name ends with an S you can say Sergei Rachmaninoff (or for R, you can just say Rachmaninoff) :joy:

Waiting for someone to name a musician that ends with F or C so I can say Chopin :joy:

:joy: Yeah, I’ll definitely have to read it before a meal.

Haha true xD I guess a shorter word count also keeps people flipping to the next page more often.

Hehe yes  I will wait for that opportunity xD

:+1:  If someone says something ending in R or S, you’ll get your chance after me xDD

Reminds me of that time when Wattpad HQ said the best (or most common) chapter length on Wattpad is around 1000–2000 words?

Well mine are 1500–2500 (at least in Book One and BWT) so hopefully it’s not too long for the average Wattpadder :joy:

Yup! Good thing Rachmaninoff ends in F so I can say Frédéric Chopin immediately after

That’s a pretty good length, in my opinion. I mean, it’s mostly much longer in actual published books anyway xD

Yes, exactly! :joy:

Oh yeah, it is much longer in some published books XD

But some books have varying chapter lengths. I remember in The Count of Monte Cristo, some chapters were relatively short, and then you had chapters which included pages (and I mean pages) of pure dialogue.

Also, if you haven’t read it yet, read it! It’s one of my favorite books. Although you might have to get used to the main character’s name :joy:

Yep, that’s true. Some books have very short chapters. But long ones are pretty common.

Ah, I’ve been wanting to read that! I kind of want to get access to a physical copy first though, because I want the experience to be good xD I haven’t really had time to read ever since I moved T.T I will definitely do that during reading week though :sunglasses: We have this short break designated for reading, yes xD

Get your hands on it if you can. There’s the 117 chapter and the abridged version. I managed to finish the abridged version but I’ve only read part of the 117 chapter version. I suggest you start with the longer version, by Penguin Classics.

I actually mentioned it in Book One, for two reasons:

  1. I love the book
  2. Its main character coincidentally shares the same name as my favorite character XD and it’s pointed out in Book One as well

I have seen my favorite character’s name in another book I’m reading on Wattpad, but as a minor bad guy :grimacing: and luckily he’s usually referred to by his surname in that book so

Ah, I’ll keep that in mind!
Oh niceee :joy: That’s cool. Yes, I definitely need to read it. Ahh, I have such a long to-read list xDD

I also have a long to-read list :joy: speaking of which, I need to print my dorm contract so that I can apply for a library card. Maybe I’ll do that tomorrow. I’ll see. I have a book to request.

And there are other books I want to borrow from the library too XD although, I also have a book report to do for one of my courses. Not sure if I’ll have time.

Oh yes, I got my library card some time ago xD I haven’t used it yet, though. It’s not that close to campus and I haven’t really gone off-campus haha.

Oof, good luck with the report! I have a whole bunch of assignments too… Multiple labs each week and two essays to write by the end of the month. I’m drowning in work over here, even though it feels like all I do is work

Alright you’ve convinced me I’m going to get it tomorrow even if I have homework due XD

Same here! I haven’t really felt the need to go off-campus because virtually everything is here. Plus, food is pricey off-campus. At least on campus I can get food for free or use my college’s currency.

I think the last time I went off-campus was to buy an iron for ironing my clothes.

Thanks! Good luck with your assignments too!

For me, some of my hardest assignments are due at the start of the week :’) the semester just started and I already feel like I’m clinging for life XD

Also, I forgot to respond to this but you got reading weeks? We get reading days ;-; although we do have a break coming soon in the fall, I don’t expect to be free because I’ll have exams around that time too ;-;

Hehe, hope that goes well :joy: Having cards is a nice feeling. I got a plum card for Indigo, a book store. So you can bet that when I have the time and money, I’ll be buying a lottt more books xD

Yes, exactly. I just use my meal plan when I can, and if not I have a bit of food stocked up… Though it’s going to run out if I keep using my supply xD I’m trying to ration it now. Buuut I also signed up for a free grocery pick-up on campus next Friday!! So glad that’s there.

Thank you!

Oof, that’s always stressful >.< They always give you so little time to complete it, especially with multiple classes. Same here. There’s just so much. If it weren’t for communication, I would’ve gone crazy in my mind already. Having conversations like these grounds me when I get stressed, haha.

Haha yeah, it’s just one week, though. I was surprised when I found out. But it’s nice. They even have this treetop trekking event planned during that! I’m definitely signing up!

Ahhh yeah, exams do get in the way, don’t they >.> I have a term test coming up soon. And all the profs literally started spamming term test dates yesterday, so I was kind of having a panic attack. Anyways, I hope we both manage to do well on our exams :crossed_fingers:

Cool! I think the only time I’ll be able to buy books for leisure are Christmas and my birthday (which I will never explicitly state in public) because my parents won’t be able to buy me gifts, so I’ll just tell them “I’ll buy my own gifts” XD

Although, they might because they have ordered stuff and shipped them to my dorm. I better ask a month or two from my birthday so that I can secure my gifts. I already have some presents in mind. They definitely won’t be too pricey.

Haha, hope you don’t get too stressed! Glad conversations are helping you. In my case, I always have writing and my private chat to help de-stress, and piano-playing too.

I think I’ll have to devote more time to actually practicing the songs they’re teaching us in class, because my sight-reading still sucks and I keep getting the fingerings wrong when I do scales >.>

Whoa, a free grocery pick-up? That sounds cool! We have a mini-grocery across my dorm but you have to pay.

However, there is a store downstairs that offers a bunch of snacks, drinks, and light meals. Those on a meal plan can get a certain amount or combination of food for free. That’s what I’ve been doing this whole time: taking advantage of the free food and adding to my stocks :joy:

I hope so too :crossed_fingers:

EDIT: SOMEONE NAMED A MUSICIAN THAT ENDS WITH “S” ON MY GAME THREAD REPLY BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE DOES :joy:

EDIT 2: NVM SOMEONE REPLIED ALREADY BUT I REPLIED TO THAT PERSON AND THE NAME ENDS WITH R SO YEAH :joy:

EDIT 3: NVM someone replied again :joy:
