The matches weren’t as intense as this one, plus there wasn’t really anyone I was rooting for. But it was such a battle between the groups of the audience, for the Tsitsi vs Ruud match. One side was like, ‘Let’s go, Stefanos! clap clap clap-clap-clap’ and the other was like ‘let’s go Casper let’s go!’ xD It was entertaining watching them. Apparently they also had ‘giveaways’ for random people watching that were wearing masks, because so many people weren’t 
And then one time, the ball flew into the crowd and a boy got it. They didn’t return the ball though, and the match continued, and I have no idea if they returned it later or if he just kept it BUT, IT WOULD BE SO COOL TO KEEP A BALL FROM A TOURNAMENT. It happened a second time and the man was about to keep it, but then Bautista was gesturing for him to throw it so he finally did
I didn’t cheer out loud, though, but I sort of did in my head. Everyone in my section was mostly silent. I did clap, that’s how you could tell whom I was rooting for. xD But man, that weather. It got really hot for a while but then the clouds came, but it was still really humid. I was sweating just sitting there, I can’t imagine what it’s like for the players! But wow, what an experience. It’s so different from just watching on the screen! AND IT FEELS SO CRAZY TO BE RIGHT THERE SO CLOSE TO ACTUAL ATP PLAYERS OH MY GOODNESS. I wanna go again now

But hey, glad you had fun out there! From the looks of your post I guess the crowd was rather 50-50. Yeah, some tournaments allow you to keep the ball, but in Wimbledon you’re expected to throw them back. You know at the USO (I’m sure other tourneys do it too) they actually get the winner of the match to sign some balls and toss them into the crowd? That would be amazing to have.
Oh, not a lot of masks. That’s something I’m getting used to here in the US I would be worried seeing a maskless person but then remind myself “hey, this is the US, where there’s a lot of fully-vaccinated people so calm down you’re safe”
Speaking of which, got my first dose this afternoon 
now my left upper arm is sore but that’s about it. I’d love to talk more but my mom’s telling me to sleep, and I don’t want her to catch me

Haha yeah, true. But they still have the rule to keep them on here, but I guess they don’t really enforce it much. Other than giving incentive with those prizes. Plus, you never know who’s fully vaccinated. And also vaccinated people could still transmit the disease… I think they’re just protected but they can still carry it. Or at least that’s what I’ve heard. I do recall watching a video in science class sometime ago about how that happens.
Yay, congrats! Oh yes, that happened to me too. I had a bit of fatigue the next day, too, but nothing serious. Anyways, hope that arm gets better soon, and have a good night!

Which reminds me, remember that infamous match where Med sealed himself as the USO villain? After the savage post-match interview, they still got him to sign balls for him to toss into the crowd 
I have no idea what happened after that, but seriously? After the guy flipped them the bird? That’s the last thing I’d ask him to do 
It is true, you can still transmit it (I think?) but the risk of doing so is lower, isn’t it? I’m not too worried because according to Google, I’m in a pretty safe place.
This reminds me of what my mom said when the pandemic started. She said that at the start, all the Asians were more cautious, putting on face masks and face shields and even gloves! Some covered up even more. Meanwhile, the white people she saw in my city didn’t even wear a mask until it was required. Even after it was required, they just wore a mask. The Asians still wore face shields over masks, some of them. Not to generalize all white people or all Asians, but that’s what my mom observed whenever she was going out in my country.

Dad used to play in highschool. Crazy player who would play practically up against the net because everyone else couldn’t handle him in the upper court area.
He thought that if he wasn’t so football obsessed he might have taken tennis seriously. Then he goes and plays tennis with the athletic middle brother and I never set foot on the court. Lol

I used to play tennis from when I was a little kid until fifth grade. Didn’t like playing because of all the running and it was hard, but I still loved watching it. In fifth grade I switched to playing golf and I’m glad I did I wouldn’t call myself a good golfer though. Just decent at best.
I prefer watching tennis over golf, but prefer playing golf over tennis

Haha, yes, definitely. I saw this too. After my province decided masks weren’t mandatory anymore, basically the only ones you could see still wearing masks were Asians. xD But anyway, my dad is still like this; he put on two masks and a face shield and gloves when he went on the plane

Speaking of the video, that was an unofficial one. The official USO channel did not upload his infamous post-match interview, nor did they upload the one for the match after that.
By the way, the channel uploaded his full matches for the fourth round, quarters, semis, and final. Why didn’t they upload the one for the third round? Well, that’s exactly when he turned heel. Yet that’s the match we want to watch the comments section were like “where’s Medvedev-Lopez third round 2019?” c’mon USO! Give us fans what we want
yeah, the attitudes are generally different. Like on ours flights otw to the US, there were some Asians wearing face shields. I didn’t see a single white person wearing a face shield my mom and I asked my aunt if there was anyone wearing face shields in the US, and she was like “oh no nobody here wears face shields”
And I’m still mad about Tsitsipas beating Fed in the AO quarters yet I still cheer for him so that he can get thrashed by his rival
BTW after Rogers Cup we still have Cincinnati. All of the Big Three withdrew (nooooo Fed why 
) but a bunch of top players are still gonna play there, Med included! And there’s a big chance that he’ll meet Bublik again

The bats come to mind because they are the common cause many diseases, like Ebola, not just a possible vector for Covid.
Now, they don’t even SELL bats at that market. So, it was a misdirection away from what Fauci’s been in hearings for. You’d have to sit through the C-Span videos, especially the ones between him and Rand (a doctor himself), to see if you would hold Fauci as accountable as China for keeping things quiet until it spread everywhere. No matter which one you side with, it’s a crazy ammount of b.s. in this mess.

I’m pretty sure it’s deliberate I remember they uploaded a Med-Tsitsi match before either of them really broke onto the scene, back when Med was outside the Top Ten and they were playing on the outside courts instead of inside the stadiums. I mean, cool, but why upload that match over the other one? I think they fear what will happen if they upload the full match.
But then again, when he reached World No. 2 for the first time, the official USO Twitter account uploaded a video celebrating his most iconic moments at the USO. The first scene is literally that interview moment. It’s like “Hey, you’re World No. 2 now, great! Let’s remind you of the time you pissed an entire stadium and acted like a jerk”
Oh no Med will have the crowd advantage this time. I’m really excited to see what will happen. At the AO this year Tsitsi had the crowd, but Med pulled through. During RG there was supposed to be a crowd but the stands were empty and Tsitsi won. I can’t wait to see Tsitsi’s reaction to the crowd cheering for his rival instead of him and it’s hard court. That’s his turf.

True. Some people think getting a vaccine means you can just go maskless your immune system goes down for the first ten days after your shot. That’s why my aunt (she’s a nurse in the US) told me not to go out after I got my shot. She also advised my mom against getting a booster shot in the US, because she knew she’d be flying and the airport’s a pretty risky place. I know some people get relaxed after getting the vaccine in my country and when they get COVID they blame the vaccine

Accusations of: CDC is pulling from a halfassed study in India (not peer reviewed) for their calling for masking of the vaccinated…I need to look into this one.
Looked at data: Vaccination compliance standards are at 80%, and most those over 64 are 70% and above like last week, USA, even in non-compliant states. So the statistically likely to die have got their shots to the level of “herd immunity”.
Looked at the data: minorities less likely to vaccinate. Washington DC has loooow stats for example. But then, given some seriously messed up “studies” that
were “systemic racism”, I can’t blame anyone who is worried.

So, that may be part, but the elderly who got the shots are likely still being cautious. The younger are the ones who think they are invincible, not as much.
Besides, unless we are double masking (Fauci suggested), then nobody is doing everything they can.

So every year they alternate locations for Rogers Cup so that the men and women don’t play in the same city. So sometimes it’s in Montréal, other times it’s in Toronto. Med is fluent in French (he moved there to pursue tennis and has a French coach) so when he played in Montréal, he won over a lot of fans by answering interviews fully in French. That’s the same reason why he managed to get the crowd to root for him in RG I know Toronto is different from Montréal, but still. I have a feeling the crowd will be in his favor this time. Hopefully.
Looking at the draw right now. I think we should both be relieved wait, there’s another opportunity for a Med-Tsitsi clash! Of course! They’re the top two seeds (World No. 2 and No. 3) ooooh this is gonna be lit. If ever Hubi and Med clash again it would be in the quarters and… oh no… if Hubi doesn’t make it, then PCB might meet him in the quarters instead. There’s Andy Murray there too, oooh, interesting. As for his semis, he has a chance to meet his buddy BWEH, Karatsev, or Jannik Sinner. As for Tsitsi he’ll probably have Berrettini quarters and semis against Sascha Zverev or Schwartzman.

True. The most we can do is shame them on the internet or something. Reminds me of when my aunt said the US threw away a million doses because they expired, and me and my mom were like “that’s so bad! Other countries are desperate to buy vaccines” we’re stuck with Chinese vaccines because we don’t have a choice, but trust me, if Pfizer and Moderna and all the other Western vaccines weren’t bought out by the rich countries, we’d be more than happy to inject ourselves with them. The rich people in my country are literally flying to other countries just to get Western vaccines. There’s even a vaccine tourism program that my parents were considering (not for me or them, but for my bro just in case). I heard Moderna and Pfizer have arrived in my country already, so that’s good, and hopefully they’ll roll it out to the public soon. It’s not that Chinese vaccines are bad, but given a choice, a lot of us would rather have Western vaccines. I’m just lucky that I’m studying in the US so I can get free doses.
I know right? We were all wondering what would happen if a Russian joined because Russia is part of Europe and Asia, and the Laver Cup is split into Team Europe and Team World. That’s the inspiration for one of the tennis memes I posted to my thread’s meme gallery man, Team Europe is stacked. Some were hoping that he’d be in Team World to balance the scales, but, wait… Fed-Med doubles are a possibility!
