Want to do some writing calculations?

Yes, word counts don’t matter that much.

This question is purely out of curiosity.

For this whole year, 2023, do you know how many words in total you did?

You might surprise yourself. You may think you aren’t pushing out a lot of words and doubt yourself, but you are still doing your best regardless. Even a small amount is still a good start.

Little steps still count in the end.

How many books do you want to tackle for next year, in terms of reading?

I’m curious to how long it would take you to write a full-length novel if you only write 10 words a day. Would it take 10 years?

Idk, 150k? Guessing. At least 100k anyway

Not even sure.
Are you that person?

Honestly, I have to wonder how many words I wrote for this whole year, because with my mental health crippling me, I am unsure.

Every time I see you, you are always pushing out a story.

I thought it would be a bit bigger or something.

It’s not a race. Nobody is timing you.

Thanks for reminding me. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ve done about 83,200 words this year (so far—hoping to finish the whole manuscript before Christmas, which is a total of 101,400). This isn’t writing though, it’s mostly revision. I have written some, but it’s not all 80K words.

This year, I wanted to tackle 20 books (I’m so close, I’m on my 17th book) and I know it won’t get there. Originally I set a goal to read more books than I did the previous year, but I’m gonna reach a bit higher—25.

10x365 is 3,650 words a year. Just barely making a 50K novel is going to take over 13.5 years, so one twice as long is going to be over 27 years in the making.

It’s doable.

Rough estimate:

50K for NaNo
4x20K for ending ONC
3x9K for mid ONC
1x2K for failed ONC
15K for Watty’s
10K testing things out, editing, and excess for above, easily:

I EASILY wrote over 200K this past year.

Ooh! Congrats!
Did you knew that you’d dish out that much or you wasn’t entirely sure?

If I honestly look at myself, that’s probably what I’d write out most years.

That amazing.

Normally I only count words for NaNo since I hate being a slave to word counts, but adding everything up now…yup, you’re right. I wrote 83,266 words in all. Which is a LOT more than I’d expected! ٩(˘◡˘)۶

As for how many books I read, it was technically over a hundred and I won the Goodreads Challenge this year, but some of those were children’s books, comic books, etc. ☜(ˆ▿ˆc)

You see? That is progression in the works!
Are you happy knowing that you dish out more words than you were expecting?
