On a writers FB group someone asked for a critique re: flow and stuff so I gave a really gentle critique and marked the places where the flow was sort of off.

Guys the response I got.

People really have no social skills these days, huh? I think more people need to take the therapies I had growing up to relearn how to speak to others appropriately.

Yes, I am Autistic. Terminally online people develop a psedo-autism where they forget how to interact appropriately with other people. A lot of people in the writing space these days are also terminally online, too. How else would constant booktube drama be generated?

Honestly, agreed. I have autism and I know sometimes I misspeak to people but I definitely wouldn’t respond like this to someone.

I don’t really mind the reaction to the critique itself. I did what they wanted they can take it or leave it.

But pretty pretty girl? Bleh.

Honestly, I didn’t even notice that. I was too weirded out by the sudden use of nicknames and calling me pretty like an object.

But he did say before all of that that all the other writers in the group were ‘snubby’ and ‘snobby’ so that should’ve probably been my first warning.

I’d just joined so I thought I’d give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Turns out a basic line edit that _was asked for_ is enough to quit? Like, I even praised parts of it. I was like “Seriously dude, it’s not that bad. You asked for a line edit regarding flow and understandability. I did that. It’s up to you if you wanna continue writing or not.”
