Who are you and what are you doing? [an intro to you]

Traditional or self-publishing? Or hadn’t thought about it yet?

Interesting  May I ask why?

Me, either! XD If someone does it I’m like “How do you do that witchcraft? It’s impossible for the human body.” My dad can and my mom can’t. I’ve heard it’s genetics but not sure about that.

Oooh, interesting. @J.L.O was talking about writing a story with a wendigo some time ago, I remember.

How has the magical queen been terrorizing the world?

What about a wolf dog?

My brain: So, you haven’t been cold, hot, and balmy yet, huh? :stuck_out_tongue:
I honestly…don’t know why my brain went there. It’s being random today.

I heard the drama. You got tickets??? :open_mouth: That’s awesome! I hope the concert goes well and you have lots of fun.

How did you nail that opportunity? :open_mouth: And what’s it like being on a set (as much as you can speak about)? I have this image that it’s a lot of waiting around and redoing takes and exhausting…but also kind of fun, but it depends on how much screen time you have.

Aw :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I can’t say “that’s a lot” because I have a lot, too :stuck_out_tongue: Do they all get the same amount of your time, or do some get more than others? Who’s the priority at the moment?

Reminded me of my historical fiction where this rich family eventually meets their demise and its their own doing, although mine’s more satire than tragic. What’s the inspiration behind Laurens?

What does that mean?

That sounds cool. So you’re into programming?? I’m not familiar with that area of stuff. There seems to be some other computer people here like @48lexR doing some kind of webpage thing and @anon39043209 who is interested in electronics.

I really…I barely know html XD Forgive me if I’ve said weird things.

Do you have them as pets?

You know this went over my head XD I was going to say “well, whatever it is, I guess it’s awesome” but instead, I’ll ask, What is ascorbic acid? Where do you find it? Is it natural?

I thought I was talking about a book already written, but I don’t mind skinwalkers and would talk about them.

Yay! Me, too!

Oh wow, that’s rather recent :open_mouth: I guess the stories in you burst out and now you have a series, huh?

lol, and yet, here you are

Nice  And curious, what do tattoos mean to you? What does it mean for you to get them? A fun thing? A way to honor someone or something? Or some other reason?

Ooooh, sounds exciting

oh yay! Me, too!

Pigs are cute. They might get a little muddy, but they’re cute. I wonder…have you seen or do you remember, Babe? The movie?

Where’s your first pick? What do you hope to do there?

Me, too! As far as I know, so is @anon39043209 and @AMMeyers and there’s a thread up somewhere about horror movie gripes. I think @DollyTH too, but I can’t exactly remember…

Oooh, sounds interesting. Like the history and the “why they exist?”?

Sounds like you chose a good topic

I recently found this IG account called seducktive and realized that ducks have lots of personality. Are their feathers quite soft?

Yay, me, too!

Also, wolf, someone else said wolf. @AMMeyers That’s who. Do you guys like specific types of wolves or all wolves in general?

Oh cool! That’s right about when I started getting serious about writing, too! I was writing a little off and on before that, but I was never finishing anything. Not even a chapter. Not even an idea :stuck_out_tongue:

What got you into writing?

Oooh, I like cereal, too. Random thought: Is granola, cereal?
What are your top 3 or 5 favorites?

That’s exactly why I write fantasy XD Escapism.

Then let me ask you a question: What is a country you have always wanted to go to and why?

I do like horror :eyes:. I’m a bigger fan of movies than books, but if a horror is good enough I’ll read, haha.

 I hardly classify as a “computer person” – more like the “computer whisperer.” I whisper to it and it doesn’t do what I want it to do

Can’t leak my latest project :bangbang: but I do a ton of web development so…

Not quite. We’re looking at the state-sanctioned nature of carnivals while at the same time being transgressive, and the hostility of humour. I’m particularly looking at carnival as a “space”. It’s a whole thing

My supervisor said we can go to Portugal next year to a traditional carnival (as opposed to the glitzy Brazilian type) for funsies. Apparently it’s very brutal and not very fun (even on drugs). So I’m looking forward to that.

Omg I should check that out! Yes they are :relieved:

She’s been destroying village after village, murdering and kidnapping so many people (including the MCs family lol).

:scream:

Then again, wolves are just giant dogs.

Pretty much.

I mean, I’ve experienced the humidity from other southern states like Mississippi and Louisiana; the freezing temperatures and high amounts of snow from Colorado, and really hot temps from California. xD

I swear I don’t love the drama… it loves me!

I did! And awh, thank you! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :hugs:

It actually wasn’t like that (a little disappointing lol) because the show wasn’t even popular (it was cancelled shortly after we did the whole thing lol—only two seasons) or a big set anyway.

It’s a show called Big Rig Bounty Hunters from the History channel. My brother and father and myself aired on the sixth episode of season two (called the Big Rig Chill).

Back in January of 2014, when we used to live on the outskirts of Dayton, Ohio, there was a hotel my mom’s boss had owned (it was next to the one she was managing, and we were actually staying on property at the one she didn’t manage at the time) and she had heard that there were some filmmakers that were staying there, and they were actually looking for extras for their reality TV episode. There wasn’t an audition because they were on a very tight schedule, so my brother and my dad signed up (just had to sign some contracts and get pictures taken).

I was sixteen at the time, and they were looking for someone eighteen or over (because in the film industry, it’s a liability and extra paperwork to cast a minor—a reason why there’s so many adults who play teens). They talked to my mom about it because they said they’d think about it, and after a couple days, they still hadn’t had anyone sign up for it, so they said yes to me. Signed the contracts, etc. and the next day, we got to shoot.

Now, the whole show is about these people looking for and dealing with semi-trucks (as its title suggestions—they’re bounty hunters… for trucks lol). This specific episode (or at least, per the scene we were on) was about these twin bounty hunters who were looking for a stolen truck. Now, the parts we played were teens and an angry property owner. My dad was the first one shown on the episode—he’s the one in the video screaming and running at the twins. Then later, they go over to a convenient store and find my brother and I (and some other dude), and we played these high school friends who tell the twins it was stolen as a prank.

I didn’t get to see my dad act, but the set wasn’t much of a set because they were filming at a liqueur store. I don’t know why… but it was this small store with like a couple shelves of snacks and a fridge of sodas, and then beyond the cashier counter was just shelves upon shelves of alcohol.

It was also a one-camera thing, and only a few people were there. It was the producer (who also acted as the director), his assistant, the cameraman, and the twin actors. Otherwise, it was my brother, myself, and some other dude that played our friend, and some guy behind the counter (I’m guessing the manager of the store). We had no script, but we did talk to the bounty hunters, describing to them that we didn’t want to get in trouble for the prank, so our lines were all improvised. We only did two takes because I looked at the camera.

After that, we got free soda and 50 dollars.

It was really crazy that it pretty much shattered your perception on reality TV—knowing it actually isn’t real.

Considering my work lies at the intersection between mathematics, physics, chemistry, and programming, it’d be kind of awkward if I wasn’t, lmao. Relearning Python because I’m gonna need it eventually but I don’t have the time for AI stuff right now.

Nah.

Ascorbic acid is just vitamin c. Infamously unstable in solution, but one of those big ingredients in skincare. Inherent oxidisability means it can’t be formulated reliably commericially, so formulation is often up to individual consumers (or direct delivery from formulating laboratories and kept in stable conditions).

I know i have but its been so long i barely remember.

Well, ive already traveled a bit. I went to California which ive already been but i did extra things this time i never got to do the first time. We went to the beach and hollywood and so forth. Last summer i went to Utah for a concert and it was truly the best experience ever. It was a band I’d been dying to see in concert for over 10 years.

Im going to Colorado in June to see my best friend and we’re going to go to a convention and meet some famous people, which will be fun. Then im also going to the Oregon Coast in August which ive been really excited for. Its the closest beach there is to me. But itll certainly be the experience of a lifetime. We have many fun things planned. Me and my mom still want to go to Vegas either this year or next year.

I need to find that because oh boy do i have gripes.

I’m hoping for traditional, but more realistically, it will likely be self-published. If I’m lucky it will be picked up by a traditional publishing company after the first book is self-published.

They are intelligent and can change colors and have no bones and are just neat imo.

I think it has more to do with what muscles you use and develop more as an infant. If you grow up in a culture that teaches the rolling of R’s for the language, you are more likely to pick it up as a baby. Just like wiggling your ears or nose, if you practice that as an infant, usually you can continue doing it as an adult. If you don’t, the muscles deteriorate and you lose the ability. At least, that’s my hypothesis.

I remember someone talking about writing a story with a wendigo, not sure if it was @J.L.O or not. But they seemed to get discouraged when I and a few others encouraged them to do proper research on the cryptid before writing it and staying as close as possible to the original lore, because it’s an Algonquin cultural belief and not something that should be disrespected and twisted into something else with the same name. It would be better to just make up an entirely new creature if the writer isn’t going to be sensitive to the cultural background.

Yeah, wasn’t me. I don’t get discouraged. Lmao

They are pets, I’ll be happy if they breed.

I keep freshwater in a coldwater tank with live plants. Currently have Platy’s, Zebra Danio’s, Cherry Barbs, Bornio Suckerfish and a couple of Nerite Snails…

I’m looking to get some shrimp too… And another (Larger) tank… Probably around the 400-500ltr size…

Same here. Same here. So same I had to say it twice XD But I’ve been trying to find good horror books that aren’t Stephen King. Not that I don’t like his works but he’s so popular, it intimidates me. I’m afraid I won’t like the books as much as I like the movies.

Please explain to me how web development does not equal “computer person” :stuck_out_tongue: Don’t they both look at codes and stuff?

Ah… I know that one. Almost took a class on that. It’s close to psychology of humans or the philosophy behind placements of things? And what it means to have them in those places? I don’t really know much about it so sorry if I said something odd

That part does sound interesting.

That sounds like fun

@AMMeyers It’s “reality” TV :stuck_out_tongue:

Wasn’t that kind of intimidating though? Improvise the first time you get cast? And did they tell your dad what to do or just tell him the scene and tell him to do what he thought was right?

Just watched the video and thought he was pretty natural

That I know about. Python. My partner’s in the IT business and he’s told me a little bit.

Oooohh, interesting. I think I have heard of it actually. I’ve watched an esthetician talk about skincare product ingredients before. Might have been in there.

You might want to check out Safiya Nygaard’s vegas trip videos where they went to a whole bunch of hotels and ate at a lot of restaurants and compared them all

There’s just something about seeing everything in action with your eyes rather than your brain that’s just :ok_hand:t5:. :joy:

Sometimes I fine really cool random stuff on like Inkitt or something, but that’s rare.

Ok lmao it does I’m just not super good at it lol just coding myself a personal website is a pain haha

I know, right. I used to always assume they were real things when the cameras were rolling, but it really isn’t. It was such a disappointment.

Oh, very. I’m really shy, especially in front of the camera, so being told I didn’t have a script but had lines was a very “no bueno” moment for me. xD

Acting was never my greatest strength, unfortunately. I grew up wishing to be an actor, but without the proper training and stage fright… ugh. I once auditioned for this fake acting company commercial thing—there’s usually this group of people every once in a while who tells families that their kids can get a chance to star in commercials and eventually move onto Disney Channel and Nickelodeon and big Hollywood movies for a price (which they don’t advertise; not until you’re “selected”) and for my thirteenth birthday, my mom did it for me and my sister and the producer dude (or whoever he was) said I belonged in Little Rascals which I didn’t take as a compliment lol. And then I did my first (and only) ever play the next year, but it wasn’t an actual play and not many people showed up anyway.

I think if I had gone through most of my childhood and adolescence in theater, I would’ve been better at it. But I didn’t, so… I suck at it.

Basically. They wanted him to run at them, screaming to get off the property. My dad started cussing and it was hilarious because he stopped and was like, “Wait, am I allowed to do that?” And they were like, “Of course. That makes it seem more authentic.”

IT WAS SO AWESOME. My sister and I binged both of them and it was like watching a glorious movie because of how long the videos were lol

Man, I kinda miss Vegas. I’ve only gone for a short while, though we didn’t do much of anything except see around Circus Circus and eat a few buffets, but I’ve heard and seen a lot of great things to do there. I’ve wanted to go back just to go gamble or hang around the most exciting parts of the strip. Safiya’s video really dives into the different types of hotels, restaurants, and leisurely things to do at each casino/hotel and it’s really cool.

The main thing on my bucket list would be the Stratosphere—the dining and theme park rides at the top.

There is also this really cool drive-in we went to that was massive and had like movies playing on multiple screens. Really fun!
