Wrote 107 words today and my brain is fried from just that little tiny bit, so I’m going to give up and go to bed now. (- _ -)Zzz…

It actually makes a lot of sense, especially in the context of rich ppl’s social ā€œseasonsā€. In 1895, some British wrote an article in Hunter’s Weekly, arguing for a Sunday brunch, rather than a heavy Sunday meal after church. Why? Well, because if you got drunk the night before, you wouldn’t have to get up early for breakfast :joy: and to make the meal more consistent, he suggested to combine breakfast dishes with lunch dishes.

By 1896, it was already known as a fashionable ā€œfadā€ among the well-to-do. But still only on Sundays, because it was the one day off in the week.

Then American movie stars popularised it in the 1930s. Travelling by train across America, they would stop off in Chicago for a late-morning meal, which would be served at hotels because restaurants were closed on Sundays.

I think that I am going to change my idea a bit, because the words don’t seem to be flowing out the way that I want them to  Or try another idea instead lol

Much better day today! No idea how many words I wrote just today, but my total so far is 5674. If it were NaNoWriMo we would need to have 5001 words by today. Looking good! (*ļ¼¾-ā€˜) 乃

There you go

Your word dragon is being randomly teleported into the past, and has no idea what’s coming next

What would it include? XD

What if you made a whole new genre of music called totem music? You can only listen to the full song once you play the tracks one after another and listen to them at the same time.

When this happens to me, I give a storm or make someone shout and spend that chapter making the characters deal with the sudden drama

Yes, it’s important to rest

Huh, it sounds oddly familiar (which means I must have come across the info during some random rabbit hole episode XD)

And why does it sound like something British people would do? :stuck_out_tongue:

Makes me curious about what brunch looked like back in the day

Brunch at a hotel sounds like something a well-to-do person would do

Idk why

I can imagine fancy movie stars in or outside their movies, traveling across America just for brunch

You need that totem album :stuck_out_tongue:

What if you tried throwing yourself a curveball? When I get stuck, I like to do this thing where I give my characters some sudden drama to deal with for the rest of the chapter. Like a storm, someone shouting, a scream, lights off, or a gunshot, or something.

Anything to make them run about in a frenzy. It always helps me get my writing flow in again.

Hey, that’s awesome!

You sent your word dragon to the past, and then striked it where it hurts. You got some damage in!

Imagine that little health bar going down for each word you write

Tada!

I tried out the excel word count thing my partner made for me. He’s good at this stuff. I’m clueless how this all so nicely works.

So, I now have stats for words left which is something NaNo never had. I can actually see my word count striking down the 50k day by day.

I saved the article somewhere, I’ll check and share the link! It was pretty sassy lol.

I suppose they were travelling between New York and Los Angeles for work, and taking a break in Chicago between trains.

I made the colors fall-ish :stuck_out_tongue:

Ooh a gunshot  ! Sounds cool!

Yes good idea actually will try that

Yes  !

I imagine for some reason, it would be Aztec themed. But with a fusion of modern hip-hop, or something like that. Probably some sort of conscious music. It would be very experimental lol

I’m trying to keep up the word count but unfortunately I’ve gotten sick again :joy: Second time I have gotten the cold in a month! Go me! October/November hasn’t been kind to me at all has it? Hope December’s better lol I’m a bit behind in my word count, though

Let me know how it goes. I think it’s fun for the writer, too. You know, I always think, us writers, we gotta entertain ourselves while writing the thing. We’re our first audience

This actually sounds really cool. I wonder what it would be like… It might end up being like a chant and what it does is pump the writer up to write the thing :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh no! I had a cold last week. It was a weird, annoying cold right before the challenge started

Showing up consistently for your writing project doesn’t mean you can’t take a rest sometimes. Word dragons aren’t going anywhere. They like a good fight. They’ll be there waiting

Update: Yesterday I wrote 3000 words.

If I write 3000 today, I’ll reach the 20k mark.

Since the scene yesterday took place in a port market, I found ocean-side village sounds thing and had waves and seagulls on in the background. It kind of motivated me.

Having music on in the background is new for me, but I thought if I can write at a cafe with background music and human chatter and concentrate, maybe I could try having BGM. Maybe it helps rather then being in complete silence.

Especially now when I’m slightly distracted

Atticus was beginning to realize that what he thought as things that couldn’t be questioned about the world were all connected. Scorches also fueled the households of the rich. Atticus would have to be careful where he poked.
