Word Dragon Challenge *THE END* [Nov.1~30]: Share, Chat, Encouragement

Sounds like a good plan

You have a lot on your plate :open_mouth: Good luck with events

Yes you can! Would you like me to send them to you? Do they come out okay when you download them from here?

I think a few people did appear on IG. I know that because the only common follower was you :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll join. I’ve got a performance coming up in December and I want new material soo…

I think I have my ā€œwordā€ dragon but it’s not words… it’s minutes. I want to produce 20 minutes of poetry within the month working every day. It’s a massive dragon to slay!

There you have it, your word dragon in the form of 20 poetic minutes

Good luck!

And so, I think I’ve chosen to go with Project Scorch. The reason I wanted to do this challenge in the first place was to return to the excitement/fun of drafting a novel freely and intensely. I can’t fully do that in worlds or lore that is familiar to me.

One thing I want to explore in this project is why do people want so much power or why do people want to cause chaos or darkness in the world? And why do they go about it in a way that is destructive? How can someone overcome their own darkness inside of them? What if that darkness can’t be fully healed?

Curious as a pantser, what do you do to prep?

I’ve still got the NaNo Prep page on my computer, and I see other people online still have their copy posted too:

or here if you prefer:

Personally I don’t do all these things, but I do attempt an outline, start researching the time period and setting, try to come up with an interesting character or two, stuff like that. Maybe make a mood board and a book cover, search for face claims, write a blurb.

During the years when I took NaNo seriously I also did plenty of cooking ahead of time and then put it all in Tupperware so during the month of November I could just grab something out of the fridge and microwave it. Saved so much time! Haven’t done that in ages, though. (♯^.^ღ)

I don’t plan at all, but here’s some of the things I’ve been posting to help folks prep for next month. It’s fun seeing what people are coming up with!

These are brilliant! Not just for helping people prep, but also for building a following for your own books. Great idea! (*ļ¼¾-ā€˜) 乃

Thanks! I admit it took me wayyyy longer than I would’ve liked to plan all this  But still, a lot are finding it useful so I’m content!! Fingers crossed all my ā€œpep talksā€ go down just as well :joy:

The moment I saw this, I thought you were talking about cooking ideas in your head and putting them into Tupperware a.k.a somewhere in your brain XD

I was thinking too much about what I do: store ideas and visuals in my head and take them out when I need them during November

Do you always stick to the things you’ve planned or do you end up diverging while writing?

Those are awesome! I did think about something like for Wordra, but it’s too much  Maybe next year, idk. Maybe I’ll get some planner person to come up with topics because for me, it’s best if I don’t think about any details beforehand

Thanks! It’s been a lot of fun. I’m not very good at events management but people seem to be enjoying everything. Still gotta make my collectibles for next month but my pep talks are all planned, just gotta write em!

That makes a lot of sense. I don’t plan at all but I vaguely know what people think about when planning (and as an editor, I do have to think about all the planning stuff, even if I don’t do it myself) so it wasn’t too much work putting it all together

Nope, all my planning usually goes right out the window and I end up pantsing the whole thing! :joy:

I have two characters, but I don’t know. They need more chemistry and development, not through sheets but in my mind. Need time to stew.

Just dropping this weeks prep month post here in case anyone else finds it useful!

What DO people think about? :stuck_out_tongue: I’m trying to figure it out but no two writers are the same.

You and I both. I’ve added pictures of the colosseum and fantasy battle arenas into my noggin. I have the MC, his brother, his mother, and the emperor of the country, but no country and no one else XD Currently stirring the cauldron. Missing ingredients.
