A curious idea for Saints in a story.

Saints are the gods that exist in Alagossia, they are sorta modeled after the major and minor gods in mythology on Earth.

I just had a curious thought, not just for the sake of worldbuilding. Majority of the Saints the patron gods of the First Dynasties, whose offspring birth those dynasties in the first place. Those Saints live like royalty, yet also handle the demands of their descendants and more.

Yet besides the Ravakalyn (the Saints who lost the war and lost their place on Alagossia, who are forced to wander as demonic red ghosts), there are the Saints who helped won the war, yet never became royalty.

These Saints got the short end of straw, yet did better than the Ravakalyn by a lot. There’s a curious story that I wanted to try, the take is fallen gods who wander the world as time passes on, watching the planet grow.

The Saints who decide not to be kings and queens, live like ordinary folk, adjusting in a world that they once helped build.

I am curious how a story like that could work, for me. The point is if the gods lost their worshipers, their praise, the things that made them divine, forced to wander the world as an immortal or a regular human looking for a purpose, what is their for them to hope and truly want when they are stripped of nearly everything?

Thoughts and feelings? I really need to discuss this with someone who could understand.

The goal is to write it either in eyes of the Saint, their offspring, then their grandchild. Three generations of Saints who are finding their purpose in an ever-changing world, where they aren’t viewed as the Saints who rule, but are still among who help build the planet in a way, paving a road for the Alagossians who exist now.

Bump.

You’d have to do a lot of world building for this type of story

Honestly, that wouldn’t bother me, but I am wondering if I would do that as I write fail me in comparison to doing it beforehand?

Besides world-building, how will you tackle this story? Just curious if in your story if you had god wander the planet after being stripped of what made them divine, entirely or slightly?

I am reminded of the realm of Gods in Buddihism…

Really? I just felt the Saints are slightly modeled after the mythical gods chatted about on Earth.

Yeah but the realm of devas is impermanent.

Hmm…the Saints are incarnations or the embodiment of a singular all mighty supreme god. They are in a way the divine pieces of god, yet they have their own individuality and goals.

Yet they are still gods in a way. Going further, Saints have clones and incarnations of their own, they’ve lesser gods in a way.

Confused yet?

If I could wrap my head around no-self then I can understand this.

Great to know.
That’s what Saints are.

I only heard of the game, never played it.

Haha Shadow of the Colossus has these beautiful wandering behemoths you’re supposed to kill.

The idea of wandering saints reminds me of that — doomed to roam the world you’ve built and contend with what’s become of it.

Not really :thinking: Mine’s the opposite. Mortals became Gods. I do have some Gods running around here and there but most of them are too busy dealing with their own issues or demand someone else solve them to actually look around ;-;

I briefly thought about that. I know that it has been done, even if I never worked on it. It only makes sense, when I think about it for some of the races that yearn and possibly even tried to become a Saint in their own right.

Why have I not thought harder about that? LOL!

I think the main question here is what do they actually want? What are they looking for now everything’s been taken from them? Are they trying to become divine again?

To coexist with the Lesser kin or other races on Alagossia, but also to also find a purpose for themselves, since they don’t want to rule.

They are still divine, just they do no ruling.
