I thought Wattpad was a community for connections

So, Wattpad is deleting their private DM (direct messaging) system in a few weeks or less. With it, they will take all the messages away, so if you want to continue connecting with someone on there, go try to find other ways. Only Wattpad official peeps will be able to message you in DMs.

Idk what they’re trying to do here.

What is Wattpad FOR?

Making Naver money.

This is Naver’s business philosphy these days.

It’s probably because of all these idiotic bots trying to poach people for other sites overwhelming the system, and people are sick to the teeth of reporting, and deleting them and Wattpad are like Why should we keep it?

Wow, I didn’t even know they had a DM system. Or did I? Maybe I knew and then forgot, because I haven’t used the site in literally years. And the reason? Because they have no community anymore! (>▂<)

Hmm, very good point lmao. Maybe it could be something like, introducing a hint of life instead?

Ooh, this is cool! Especially since they’re entirely loyal to the original demon. Has a personality ever attempted to escape their original demon? Or betrayed them in some way?

Ahh, so they’re ever-so-slightly removed from the direct experience of it!

Lmao, definition of made different

The demons are all human beings who were punished to “Magma” for various sins. I’m thinking how they actually show up is sort of like how they can show up in the mortal world–they kind of just manifest, but have actual solid bodies of their own. I haven’t yet decided where or how they appear there year, and have sort of imagined that they just zap into existence lmaoo.

That is pretty cool! I like it when fictional creatures kind of manifest due to ideas. It reminds me of how Berserk’s “Idea of Evil” works. The whole lore is that it manifested due to people needing a reason behind all the terrible things that happened in their world. The Idea of Evil works sort of like a fate spinner and, I imagine, creator of demons (though that hasn’t been confirmed yet).

There is something uniquely scary about something coming into existence due to an idea rather than some magic force.

  • Yes, they have a little bit of power to start off with, though how much is usually dependent upon the person they once were–though none has ever manifested straight away as a powerful demon.
  • No quota per-say, it’s more like they slowly become stronger and stronger when the change from lesser to more powerful demon. Sort of like a Pokemon lmaooo.
  • Sort of, yes. Most demons have a limited amount of actual magical prowess. They have a few unique abilities, like being able to psychologically enter someone else’s mind, simple illusionary magic–appearing and sounding like someone else-- and, of course, possession. Each also has a small amount of ‘death magic’ (which is where their abilities stem from). But, for the most part, they are only very physically strong. There are some demons who have a lot of magical prowess (though the limits that exist is that they cannot be stronger than a God, but could be stronger than the most powerful mortal) but are physically very weak. These demons are uncommon (but not exactly rare) down in Magma, but have never been seen in the human world as, despite their magical capabilities, they are too physically weak to drag themselves from Magma and possess a body.
  • Yes, although possession for demons has a lot to do with the physical strength of the body, so adult humans (or even teenagers) are much preferred over that of a child or a baby.
  • Yes and no. Really, anyone can resist a possession by simply refusing the deal with the demon–it has more to do with resisting and being able to see through the demons trickery. It sort of depends on the person and what they’re going through at the time as demons often seek helpless and desperate mortals who are not exactly mentally well.

A character in my story actually goes through something similar to this. They’re super desperate, just watched their sister die, and a demon approaches them wearing her face and speaking in her voice. The character themselves has been well-versed in demon possession and is able to resist. (Plus demon was a big idiot here, taking on the face/voice of their freshly dead sister lmaoo.)

Haha, it’s more like, they remember the thrill of killing but are prevented from being able to do it again. Even if they were to engage in combat with another demon, or even torture them, it’s not the same because demons have limited emotional and physical capabilities–and they aren’t able to die. Ya know how some serial killers are able to live off the thrill of the kill–but only for a limited amount of time, and then they go on a spree? It’s like being locked in that emotional high forever but never being able to satiate it.

Lmao, good! I meant it to be somewhat funny haha!

HAHA! This is exactly how I pictured it when writing it to you, absolutely brilliant, thank you so much <3

Aaaaaa

Ahh, this is so sick! It’s like a constant creation of antagonistic forces, a good balance between good and evil. Very cool and well thought-out I love this.

So, are demons and angelics aware of who their counterpart is? Or is it something they discover?

Ahh, two opposite forces, plus, creates some really cool situations especially if they’re both going on their own little journeys and accidentally stumble upon this thing that completely inhibits them.

Are there any demons or angelics who do seek one another out? Like a pair of rivals that just want to fight one another–or is this something they tend to try and avoid at all costs?

Yes, mostly when they’re commanded to, though. They don’t really eat anything. The vulture doesn’t really leave his place in guarding Magma, he just hangs around there.

If a familiar is ordered to do something by Bastian but resists, it’s probably for a very good reason. They trust him implicitly and have very few moral qualms for what he does. Even if they don’t entirely agree with him, they trust he has a plan and it will all work out eventually. Besides this, Bastian isn’t making any huge moral decisions or changes too often. When he does, they’re behind him 100% as they care for him and much less for any of the other Gods/people who may oppose him.

Ooh, I like that! It’s just a little dose of happiness and then he goes back onto his duties. I admire characters (even if their goals might be a wee bit immoral, lol) who are full-set on their goals and don’t let things like that inhibit them.

This is such a cool lore! Is there any reason Richard was able to change from a human being into someone who is magic? Can all humans change–or is Richard special in some way?

Bastian is… complicated. Right now in my story, he isn’t exactly himself if you catch my meaning lol. He’s usually very formal, speaks in iambic parameter, he’s kind to the dead souls who might need a little comforting. And he’s endlessly, endlessly sad and angry–but he keeps these feelings hidden and only ever confides them to his animal companions. He’s kind of a tragic character. He wants the best for the world, but lacks any ability to actually help change it.

Ohh! that is a fun question! Bastian would probably think Richard is amusing. Demons work a lot differently in your world, so I think he would be very interested in how his relationship with Charcoal works, but he would be more interested in what Richard’s exact goals are and what he plans on doing with Charcoal. I don’t think he would technically interfere with his plans, but he might send his little dog to go and spy on him every once in a while to see what he’s up to and to make sure his little demon companion isn’t getting too out of whack.

It’s certainly complicated and has to be the perfect kind of circumstances, a perfect storm, if you will. Numerous circumstances facilitated Bastian being able to do this. To begin with, Bastian himself rules over the death-domain and the other Gods rarely interfere in his business because 1) They despise him, and 2) Many find death to be pretty macabre and disturbing.

The only other God besides Bastian who could sense the death of a mortal was Horphain, The Creator, and he was killed long ago. His successor has a similar amount of power but nowhere near the same connection nor the same awareness as The Creator, so sometimes things slip past him. On top of this, after his death, the other Gods powers were significantly weakened so they aren’t as aware as they once were, either.

The circumstance where one of my characters were resurrected, their body hadn’t entirely died (they were possessed)–their soul had only breached the gates of death, where Bastian greeted them, but hadn’t actually moved onto death. Therefore, it was a sort of iffy situation and Bastian had to move very carefully to first eradicate the demon who possessed her and then move her soul back into her body before any of the other Gods took notice of his direct interference. And it worked!

It’s definitely possible and has been known to happen, spirits being able to evade him. So long as the spirit keeps themselves extremely low-key and doesn’t make a lot of noise, they could probably go undetected by him for a time. But no significant spirits exist in the story.

Lessgo! I like that, Richard gets his little time in the light, plus it makes for some great dark-humor. You said he was a minor villain–does the duology pick up before or after that story?

Mine’s currently a trilogy, though the third book is wayy underdeveloped.

Same! I think of Raphael from the video game Baulders Gate 3, super refined and elegant, but with an insane ulterior motive. Something about his regal attitude was super compelling.

Haha! Does Charcoal have any sort of quirks regarding good manners? “Say please!”

Thank you!! And yes, if a demon goes into the mortal world and gets exorcised back to their domain, they are pretty significantly weakened, they’ve been actually physically drained of both magical and physical strength and are reduced to that of a lesser demon.

And yes, the entirety of the demon lore sort of plays into the idea of “Misery loves company” Lol.

Ahh, I’m honored <3 it’s nice to be able to discuss this with you and to get secret insights onto your story

Yayy!! I’m glad to hear that lmao.

Yess, it’s a really fun dynamic not only to write but be able to read! Also I love the names “Spanky and Cricket” very funny and cute.

That’s probably it and it’s probably costing them money to do that and they don’t want to spend money on hiring people

Them getting rid of the community was their downfall. Tells you they want to have Wattpad with minimal effort and minimal trouble. Which, of course, means getting rid of places where people could bring them “trouble”

Tick-tock, tick-tock, TikTok’s time might be up soon?

The ban on TikTok, will it happen? There’s been some talk (and some tok :stuck_out_tongue: ), hasn’t there?

I do have a TikTok account and I tried to maintain it, but I couldn’t. It’s just not for me and there’s too much video editing you have to do and that sort of thing isn’t enjoyable for me. I did make some videos, but I’m not attached to them  Also, there’s too much content, and it’s been the pit for toxicity, so I’m personally indifferent to what happens with TikTok.

I don’t care if it stays. I don’t care if it goes.

What are your thoughts? Do you use TikTok? Do you like it? Do you want it to stay?

If tik tok is banned, all of the people who are influencers on there will migrate to Youtube, or at least Youtube Shorts…disgusting thought!

I bet there’s gonna be another Tiktoker content creation house group thing with all their drama and stuff…
