I’m not a huge fan but sometimes if they’re done right they can add to the story. So it really depends on the context. A majority of the time its a no though.
I used to use them on occasion when i just started writing but I’ve realized in the majority of cases it adds nothing putting it at the front as it would just working it into the main story. So not really a thing for me anymore. Really comes down to the “what does this add” aspect.

But I do forgive the Star Wars intro because that’s too much of a classic thing to get rid of. If a Star Wars movie doesn’t have that, I would tell them to put it in.

Me, too! When I just started, I thought that’s what a story needed until I realized that it could be weaved into the story

Yes, if they’re not a chapter’s worth of prologue.
I especially don’t like prologues that introduce characters that you never see again.

Topic: Do you, as a writer, find yourself spending waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too much time on the internet? Either you’re looking up things, watching videos for research (or not), or interacting with people online, or interacting on social media, or creating articles, or watching movies, or using FB, discord, other social media places… do you find yourself spending way too much time staring at a screen?
I took a break away from the internet and read three books. I thought I was in a reading slump, but I guess not

Undeniably so, Though, I’ve cut back significantly in the last few days. I have a crippling tiktok and facebook addiction where I just doom scroll on my phone… I’ve been getting a lot better since I started just playing around on here and I have zero excuse to not work on story stuff given I’m already on my laptop with the document up. So small wins.

Omg yesh. Especially lately with a very heated election going on here, I’ve been spending way too much time on Buzzfeed, Salon and Huffpost. I know they’re all very biased, but sooooo addicting!
In my own defense at least I’m not on Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram or any of the usual suspects anymore. I deleted all my accounts at those places sometime back. They were fun when they were brand new years ago, but now it’s just wasted time, and I’d rather just see aggregated posts of the funniest things on X or whatever elsewhere.
I do waste way too much time on book and writing sites, but I seriously can’t help myself, and I think it does help my writing in small ways. Anything that helps the writey, whether it’s research, information, watching writing videos or whatever, contributes toward your future success, so it’s okay. (>‿◠)

Without a doubt 
I have made a lot of online friendships over the last few years as well as having networked extensively; and it is hard to pull away a lot of the time.
Discord, Reddit, and Twitter are the three biggest offenders (and in that order), but there are more.
I’ve thought about limiting my access to those places, however, I like to know what is going on with friends and want to be able to be there in case something goes wrong.
I have decided to cut down on my Twitch consumption quite a bit and with Reddit being in talks to add a paywall/subscription service to access a lot of their subreddits, they’ll be freeing me of that addiction; because I am not going to shell out any money to be able to browse reddit

most of the people I know are either online or long-distance. so I kinda have to in order to have some semblance of connection. and unfortunately atm I don’t exactly have the opportunity to meet people irl so

Reddit is now getting pay-wall-y, is it? 
I feel like so many places are getting pay-wall-y. I get that everyone’s suffering and they want money, but maybe not allow paywalls in places where paywalls didn’t exist before? It’s like “only those with cash get to have fun”

Topic: Do you use Goodreads? What do you use it for?
Since I will be a published author soon, I thought I’d sort out my Goodreads situation a little bit, so,
94 books sounds like a lot, but I also added a bunch I read as a kid and loved and some books I added each book of an entire series.
I rarely rate and review on Goodreads because the only times I have, for some reason, it glitches and nothing gets saved. I might try again, but, yeah. Anyway, not many ratings and no reviews, but I did add some more books on the list.
Do you guys keep a list of books you hated? Idk if I want to add books that I didn’t like into my list of books I read…
