Can I buy chocolate yet or is it too expensive?

Depends what kind of chocolate you’re thinking. I think chocolate bars were available in the 1890s, but maybe not as cheap and common as they are today. But it seems demand soared and prices dropped in the 1890s, so I think it could have been an occasional treat even for the non-upperclass. Wikipedia says that, “In 1897, following the lead of Swiss companies, Cadbury introduced its own line of milk chocolate bars.” And Cadbury’s competitor in England, Rowntree, “introduced its first milk chocolate block” in 1899.

Tysm!!! I’ll make sure to let you know if I’m writing anything like it. I actually currently demolished the story completely so now it’s a modern day setting. But if I write a historical fiction story I’ll let u know. :))
