An exercize in Characterization and Description

After that, I figured we could try something more easily comprehensible. @Novel_Worm @TheTigerWriter

I’ll do Malika this time

Malika

The people stood on top of a big rock, all their eyes filled with fear and anger. What was happening? On the other side of the rock, a garish creature - a cross between a man and a beast like hyena with an insanely long tail was looking at the people. But none of the people were looking at him - so clearly, he was not what was scaring them. Behind them, the world seemed to be on fire and at the same time, strong, rainy winds were blowing, sweeping away houses and trees into the fire. As her eyes travelled upwards, a looming, cloaked figure appeared. It had a garish, wolf-like face, except its snout was elongated, and its mouth open, salivating. It’s clawed hands rose through the weackage, attached to strings which reached towards the people on the rock and the hyena-man on the other side.
What was going on?
It made no sense to her, but she had to figure something out fast, before the strings reached all of the people.

The nicest thing I could say about this werewolf was that it didn’t have rabies. Yes, it appeared to be manipulating the outcome of the final war between heaven and hell-they called it armageddon, but its mouth wasn’t overflowing with saliva froth, nor did it mind the rainstorm im the sky or the fires from down below. I, with only second hand knowledge of Christianity, knew that what ever was happening here was probably against the divine plan.
Yes, it was a snarling beast in monastic robes, but an intelligent, manipulative one.

I have long since said that werewolves represent the worst, most animalistic side of humanity, and this proved it beautifully.

I will return tomorrow with Sara’s take on this!

It loomed before her, structure imposing and overwhelming. Between her and the temple sar a forest, and a bird - she assumed it was someone’s bird, flew circles around her. Huge temple like that, Sara thought, has to be hiding lots of secrets.
And she would find them all.

The tower was shaped like a spider, glaring down at her from upon four thick stone pillars. Elya examined the sides of the stone pillars, brows narrowed in contemplation. How did one get up there? Slowly, she slid along a tree, keeping her head low to the ground as she examined the tower more closely.

Pinti’s perspective:

Massive pillars rooted into the ground. Where sunlight hit golden, a crow passed with the shadow of itself, circling around the structure, flying higher each turn. Pinti craned her neck back watching it rise toward the top. The spire pierced the clouds like a spear. So high, it could poke the stars with its needle point. But the awestruck moment was short-lived for she wondered if it reached the souls of those who had passed, invading their space like many rude, Human-made structures did.

Thorn’s perspective:

As tall as the castle back home, the needlepoint tower rose to the sky. A crow flew around and around to reach its tip, hidden in the clouds. Like many Human-made structures, the tower strived to reach the stars and have a place among them. Thorn shook his head. They would never reach that untouchable realm. Their lives were much too short and one day, their flimsy structures would fall like all the others. Even the sunlight shifting the white stone to gold would turn a blind eye and shine elsewhere one day.

Tendri’s perspective (because why not? She’s 7, btw.)

The tower was bigger than what her sister told her. She couldn’t even see all of it without falling down on her butt from craning her neck back so far. To think that, if she climbed it, she could reach the moons made her giddy inside. Tendri gave a trill of excitement, forgetting to be quiet. She clamped her mouth shut and listened. Not a sound apart from that one crow that guided her here. He swooped up the building, round and round, as if telling her to follow.
