oh look its that burnout i thought i was fending off so well. can’t imagine where that came from. certainly not the 3 group social events and rush writing and last minute assignment all crammed into the last week. nooo. not the consequences of my own actions 
it’s quiet at work tonight though, not even laundry to fold, as long as nothing catches on fire i can ease myself out of this block and hopefully get caught up
… okay maybe not caught up, but at least less behind.

I half modeled Kimberly off my mom because this is something she would say at the beach.
“Take off your shoes, kid, if you’ve come to the ocean, that’s what you gotta do. It’s a rule.”
I know she would still call me “kid” as an adult, but she only does it when she’s being silly, sarcastic, or frustrated

Because it’s a transliteration, not a translation. Transliterations resemble their original language, but are “Anglicized” and word rules are different in different languages.
columna is Latin. The a is dropped because English ain’t a sexed language.
