Balanced Exposition

A problem that I find in a lot of…lower tier spec fic, is that the writer is unable to explain anything outside of outright narrating it to the audience or having the characters explain it in dialogue. Both approaches are fine, in moderation. But I have seen too many stories that use both approaches, constantly, and to very little effect.

What are some ways to mitigate, or even solve this problem?

Are you talking about narration in first person pov? And what kind of exposition? Can you give an example?

In any POV

Any kind of exposition, but especially right at the beginning.

I see this problem across all mediums and even all genres to some degree.
