Book recommendations for a novel project.

Many years ago I wrote a short story called Into the Chaos.

The goal back then was to rewrite it as a novel. However, that never happened, yet I did put it into the back burner/to the side. Now, years later, I plan on turning it into a standalone novel.

I don’t want to reveal what the story is about too much. The general idea is two siblings try surviving a monster apocalypse, with a crazy plot twist at the end.

So, I need books that are mystery/thrillers or even horror related. There’s no magic in this story, it takes place on Earth.

Got any books to recommend to me that are in a similar vein as Into the Chaos or just a good way to understand mystery thrillers and horror novels.

Thoughts and feelings?

Does anybody here read novels that are mystery and/or horror?

Bump.

Nope! Have you tried searching for those keywords on Amazon or some other book site? They might recommend some books, and you could check out the book descriptions to see if they help you.

I plan to listen to an audiobook version on a library app.

So, I was wondering if there were authors to look for to help me. I suppose I might have to just search for it, like I should’ve done.

I will have to just look.
Thank you.

Perdido Street Station.

But it does have…does it have magic? They don’t call it magic and seem to take more of a scientific approach to magic. So it’s not necessarily fantastical magical. Also it’s not earth as far as I know… idk, but I don’t think it’s supposed to be earth.

It definitely has monsters in it with a cosmic horror vibe especially the second half of the book.

No magic.

I wasn’t asking about your book :stuck_out_tongue: It was a rhetorical question about Perdido Street Station. I’m not sure if the magical things happening in the world of New Crobuzon is considered as magic in the story. Some of it sounded like elemental magic, but everything had a scientific, biological perspective, so maybe the “magic” isn’t considered as such in the book.
