Breaking News: YouTube has fully added the thumbs down button, however...

Comments cannot be voted and/or down voted. Whether you agree with a comment or disagree, you can’t vote it or down vote it. Just comment your feelings without showing you hate or like it. You can hate or even love a video by liking it or hating it. Just don’t vote or down vote another’s comments. If you hate a comment, you can say you hate it the same way you can say you love it. Challenge the comments. Stating your opinions can form a discussion, though not in a similar vein of a forum.
You can’t state comments that have nothing to do with the video. Random nonsense is something that YouTube forbids. If it has zero point and serves nothing to the video and what your thoughts are on it. It gets erased. Discriminating comments and videos are removed and channels are taken away…FOREVER!!!

Thoughts and feelings on this fun scenario that will never happen, but it’s fun to watch controversies arise from strange things.

Debate Time: Should comments be liked simply because we found it funny, truthful, or great? Should comments be disliked because we found it terrible, full of lies, or awful?

I thought you were serious for a second. I was thinking of all the chaos that would come with it.

There’s people who gang downvote on every platform, so just pick a moral outrage and ping some poor content creator so bad that they’re defunded or lose their current space in the algorithm.

The way I currently use the heart on Threads is to keep track of most the things I’ve seen. It means nothing.

Oof! So much chaos!

Then again, influencers will learn how people really feel about them in the votes AND the comments. It doesn’t matter if they think they know or really know, they are going to know regardless.

Imagine if FaceBook, Instagram, X/Twitter, and TikTok did this as well? Even spaces like Reddit AND more?

Interesting way to look at it!
That is also a factor.

Weirdly, there’s a Firefox add-on for returning the dislike button. I have no idea why anyone would want it. YouTube’s a friendlier place without dislikes, especially with so many far-right nutjobs out there who simply downvote every opinion that differs from theirs. I do like to see how many people upvote a comment or video.

You can’t escape politics even in “peaceful” situations, sad and terribly true. Videos, in my opinion SHOULD get likes and dislikes, mainly for people who want to know what they are getting themselves into. People want to know if video is worth liking or disliking.

Comments, in my opinion, DO NOT need likes or dislikes? Viewers can share without making it some weird popularity contest. Just state what you love/like or hate/dislike about the comment, then keep it going.

Though that will make the people who work at YouTube and the CEO work harder. Gonna make them sweat.

Just my two cents on a fake scenario.
