Caffeine withdrawal and my AuDHD are NOT a great combo

Gah! Why can’t it be that easy for me?

I always wonder if I suffer from AuDHD far greater than most and it shows.

Thanks for telling me.

I don’t even have an active life. No job, no relationships, no place of my own.

I just have to do something even if it’s nothing.

I feel pressure immensely and getting overwhelmed greatly.

Either way thank you.

It is. You just have to try it  For me, cutting things isn’t simple. I’m physically disabled, juggling three businesses AND a day job, ADHD, health issues out the wazoo… but I still manage to find things to cut. I now only do 2 days a week at my day job, after I had a breakdown last month for example. That one day a week difference has had a massive impact on my health for the better, and my finances for the worse.

Maybe! I don’t know you IRL, nor am I your psych, but what I do know is that taking a step back is something anyone can do, at any time. And I advise it! It isn’t as simple as just meditating in the quiet for us, but taking that step away IS simple. Even if your mind keeps going and going and going - after a day or two, it quietens down.

Do you think you perhaps need some structure, something to work towards? Having something you’re building can do wonders for your mental health. This can be your books, as I know you work hard on those, or it can be something else that you enjoy and want to work towards. Maybe you want to make a game, or learn a new skill.

I love writing, reading, and watching anime. I love it more if I could shut the internet off most times or not watch YouTube or get a strong willpower to not search the internet for random things.

There are apps and plugins you can use to block websites/internet access for a specified time, and overriding them is a pain. Coldturkey is a downloadable software that blocks apps, and if you use Firefox, Leechblock is a plug-in that blocks websites. You can set up lists of websites to block, specify how long to block for, and go.

The only distractions are the stressful ones. If I got rid of those, that could quiet my mind.

I am sorry for how this conversation took a weird turn.

I’m still trying to not heavily mask when I am in public, which is super difficult. Impossible even. Once I am passionate or excited about gush so hard that I overthink and get overwhelmed.

Ugh!

You can install a browser plug-in on any device that has the browser (some limitations for mobile, though)

I did Leechblock instead of ColdTurkey.

I did something with my phone too. Thank you!

i drink coffee daily, but how much (if any) depends on the day. Usually i drink the equivalent of 1-2 shots of espresso. I do believe it helps me concentrate some, but I think it makes me feel tired as a result. I also just enjoy the taste of coffee lol.

Thinking about it, I genuinely don’t know how coffee makes me feel other than get a stomachache or not finishing it all the way.

I do love the taste, decaffeinated or caffeinated.

Yeah not even gonna lie, I don’t taste a difference between decaf and regular-caf, lol. Mostly, it’s about the quality of the roast and the brew imo. The difference in perception/mood/energy is not all that different than my un-caffeinated state, either.

The way I’ve been having my coffee lately is from a mocha pot and with a healthy helping of brown sugar. I had it first in the Dominican Republic this past winter. Best coffee I’ve ever had.

Omg I love black coffee with brown sugar! It’s the way coffee was meant to be drunk, methinks. I thought I was the only one who drinks it that way. ( ˆ◡ˆ)۶ ٩(˘◡˘ )

I heard that people use brown sugar with their coffee.

It’s not too surprising. Coffee is a very strong flavor and brown sugar gets it from molasses.

How would you describe the taste of brown sugar to someone who never had it and doesn’t know if they ever did?

Like someone put taste in it. It’s the difference between northern cooking and southern cooking. But it’s really a lot like an overboiled caramel without milk.

Interesting.

I taste regular sugar and it’s sweet yet overpowering. LOL!

Nothing else to say on that.

It’s really strong in cane syrup or molases. It’s a faint trace in brown sugar, which isn’t easy to taste by eating straight sugar, but it comes out in other things like cookies and coffee.
