Caffeine withdrawal and my AuDHD are NOT a great combo

Long story made short; I abruptly stopped trying to drink caffeinated bottled teas without weening myself off and I am struggling. My AuDHD is affected because of it.

Thoughts and feelings?

Do any of you consume caffeinated drinks at all? Whether a little or a lot?

Does ginger ale count?

Caffiene should have the opposite affect, right?

ADHD, it doesn’t do crap for me. I’ll sleep through it.

But it still affects veins the same way, and I get more headaches when I abruptly cut it out. Weaning works better for those side-effects.

I hate the taste of ginger ale.

I’m scared to go slow because I will absentmindedly forget not to overdo it. I’ll end up consuming more when I know I shouldn’t.

That’s understandable. Thankfully, the misery side of withdrawals does end.

What can I do to even control the withdrawal symptoms?

Geez!

An pain pill that has caffeine. That’s headache and period-cramps ones. That way you’re only taking it when you have the symptoms. It’s interval-weaning.

Thanks for that.

Sorry for asking. Should’ve known.

Me and my mom love the taste of ginger-she even buys ginger chews. Visit at your own risk.

I don’t mind lemon ginger tea, because its not full-blown ginger.

One cup of coffee on occasion (nearly daily when I was away from home in January, but I’ve decreased it slowly since), sometimes I go for a chai or matcha if I’m at a cafe cuz I love em

I used to consume a lot of coffee and soda. Now, it’s either bottled teas, water, or some decaf tea or coffee. I do consume a lot bottled teas these days.

Nope, I don’t consume any caffeine at all as far as I know. Maybe there’s hidden caffeine in something…? But all my bottled waters, smoothies and other drinks say no caffeine. The only time I knowingly have caffeine is when we go out to restaurants and order iced tea, but we can’t afford to go out much anymore. Thanks, Chump. Ė“(ĖŠį˜©Ė‹ā‹†)

I use energy drinks and coffee to self-medicate my ADHD until I get meds, and have done since I was about 10 - never made me ā€œawakeā€ or ā€œalertā€. There is a marked difference between me without caffiene, and me with  I wouldn’t say I’m addicted to it, there are plenty of days where I have no coffee or energy drinks at all, but I really prefer the days where I have an energy drink to hand.

I don’t know of any ways to help kick the habit, other than find something suitable to replace it. Ideally something same-y. I’m trying to quit vaping right now and I bought a little inhaler thing that replicates the feel of me grabbing my vape and puffing away, but I’m just exhaling into it.

My body is also going through changes. I’m getting fatter and I am stressed all the time over nearly everything.

Plus the audhd flaring up, body issues, lifestyle and whatever else in my life.

Ugh!

Sounds to me like you need to take a step back from everything and stop stressing. I get like that pretty often, and I just need to go do some exercise and ignore the world for a few days, ideally go outside and do some journalling, and then I’m right as rain.

One thing that helps me is taking a look at ALL the things I have going on in my life, and cutting stuff out that I don’t need.
