Choosing the right place to post my novels to gain readers and more!

I know that Kindle Vella is an option along with Ream too, but in terms of which one is the question.

So, I am curious about finding things! With both of these sites, do they come with their own editors and more or would that be something that I have to look into myself on Reedsy or something. I mean I am very much new to this, though I want to know about if I need to find editors and all of those things on my own or if Kindle Vella or Ream has something on their sites.

In terms of whether or not any reader would even like my story or not, meh, I have to constantly tell myself and even get myself to understand that I can’t please everyone. I’ll get sick both mentally and physically, if I do.

So, can anybody help me out, because I have to start somewhere and know if I am building a great enough story?

Thoughts and feelings?

I know nothing about Ream at all, except that it’s frequently mentioned in the YouTube videos I watch. A lot of people I respect use it. As for Kindle Vella I have no idea what the rules are there, but I suspect Amazon doesn’t supply editors. I think they’d expect you to upload a fully polished, professional grade work. There are people here who edit books, though. I can’t remember who, but the classifieds category might list them. ¯\_(ﭢ)_/¯

Vella’s bonuses are going down from what I can hear. Unfortunately out of all of them, I think Vella is the best one at the minute… and it isn’t available in my country

Ream now supports generative AI and the co-founder (founder?) is staunchly pro SudoWrite. If that doesn’t align with you, I’d stay off of it. Ream is also like Patreon, and you won’t have much luck without an already-built-up audience.

No matter which route you go, whether that’s Wattpad, Ream, Vella, Inkitt, Radish, KDP… you will need to buy your own editing services. Reedsy is a marketplace first and foremost where you can hire editors and designers.

You can do it! I believe in you

I only know about KDP because that’s what I use

My drafts are still on Wattpad, Inkitt, Royal Road and Scribble Hub

What do you mean by bonuses?

Really now? It is that bad?

But they cost an arm and a leg just to get someone good to do some of the work that I am going to need help with. I got money, but not enough to pay for someone good or at least decent.

Thank you.

Thanks for letting me know.

I tried to get into Royal Road and I believe I used Inkitt such a long time ago.

Never used Scribble Hub, but I used Wattpad and would rather not go back there.

I’m on Ream.

It’s like Patreon (where you have tiers and the option to offer things publicly for free) but for readers and authors. You can make money if you have members. You can have followers without them being paid members. So, if you offer chapters for free, you can potentially get members…if not, you won’t make a cent.

You’ll need a cover and a blurb and everything, but they allow a lot of dark stories on there. They also allow very, very amateur covers, so don’t worry about professionalism.

I’m kind of using it like Wattpad.

Will I ever actually publish my magical realism book off of Ream? Idk.

I also want to say that a lot of authors already have books on Amazon and a following and so they offer cheap or exclusive or free content on Ream for their fans. Some offer the raw drafts of a book that will be published on Amazon. So, if you already have something, you can use it like that.
