My mom doesn’t even pester me about having children or getting married. None of my family members do nor anybody else.

Gosh! I actually miss the taste of ramen noodles!
I can’t have it for health reasons and rather not go down a path of eating unhealthy foods again.
But man, when I was eating ramen for lunch, I would hook my shit up with some boiled eggs and chicken broth.
Nowadays, I can’t even have that anymore/never again!
Normally, I eat the package ramen, I am not the cup-of-ramen type.

I live in a fairly conservative area, but there’s plenty of people wbo are serial monogamists. Which really isn’t monogamy, its more of a pretense.
Its entirely possible for you to grow up with parents who shack up annually, giving you new “step siblings” that dont stay in your life more than a few months, and both sets of parents just go through all the options in town. You’re either left woth keeping it all on the family or running well away from your hometown.
And that’s before people shack up and produce offspring they aren’t going to keep track of.
It gets much more “everyone does what they want” and youre going to need a genetic test to get married.
I had uncles like that. I have cousins I don’t know are my cousins in my area. My M-i-l is a prude, and I’m very grateful she is one because that ensured we weren’t closely related in a people that arent very “biodiverse”.
Freedom is only free when it affects no one, right? It’s got more consequences than we like to admit to.
The differe ce is accepting consequences vs condemning people like we know their circumstances.

My uncle slept with his sister-in-law, and one of his brothers (another uncle) slept with his wife, resulting in 2 seperate brother-cousins. That’s the tip of the iceberg with shenanigans.

The older men from my grandma’s first marriage had very few redeeming qualities. Its a bit better in 1st-2nd generation cousins. That makes them my half-uncles and biologically, my 1st cousins are 2nd cousins, on that side of the family.
But every time I look at that mess, Im reminded why my father distanced himself from his older brothers.

That’s why I’ve said people are free, but there’s huge issues with responsibility that affects everyone else.
It’s like having arguments about whether you can forbid grownups from having adult time in your house. The argument is always “you shouldnt have an opinion on what doesnt affect you”.
If its my mattress and my sheets and my washer and all the things they can mess up are mine, insisting that it doesnt affect me is really not thinking of all the ramifications.
We arent iaolated, but people want to argue things from isolation.
Now, being strict about your house is likely to get people to not come over and to drop you, so most the aguments stay exactly the same as they were save the assumption that only 1 side is selfish.

I only got a “headache” in terms of trying to figure out who is who in the family after your explanation of you uncle.

I dont tend to take things that way. I had 4 half uncles. One had 5 wives and kids he didnt keep track of. Another had a wife and adopted kids but he died before my father graduated high school. The oldest one married 1 woman, had a kid, divorced her, married another whose husband died so half her kids are for each man, and during his drunk years, he slept with his youngest full brother’s wife. (And since sobered up and paid for his sins with a bitter wife until death.) Youngest brother fathered most his wife’s kids but also slept with pretty much anyone, so he’s the one eho Ive got the confusion on, myself.

I forget that you are way stronger than that. That is just me trying to not ruffle people’s feathers, even on the internet. LOL!
I notice I just try to be nice and avoid problems. Hard to express certain emotions online, but I shall hopefully get better at that sooner rather than later.
