Crap! I need to figure out what purpose guilds can have on Alagossia!

Because I am getting rid of the KUA(Knighthood Union Alliance) for good, I opted to go with guilds. The issue is that I don’t know what having a guild can do for my world of Alagossia.

I know I want it to be a place where people find work and make money, but doing what exactly.

Also, the setting of Alagossia is futuristic with magic. So, I am really struggling to figure things out.

What advice or tips can you give?
Thoughts and feelings?

Adventurer’s guilds are always useful, for both the story and whatever the society has to do in order to fight monsters.

Yeah, but the issue is that monsters aren’t really a thing on Alagossia.
I mean there are monstrous animals, but they reside in one place.

I suppose you’ll need to figure out what guilds can do for worlds in general. Do you have any favorite stories or anime that have guilds in them? Maybe looking up how guilds work in those stories will give you inspiration?

I don’t have guilds in any of my stories. Never really been my style.

I feel like people who do D&D know the purpose of a guild…idk, I could be wrong, but I feel like there’s guilds in D&D :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s the thing, I don’t know which might end up changing the whole entire story I am working on.

To replace what was once there, but now I’m not sure.

So is this like a world that used to be high tech or something, and then an apocalypse bombed everything back to the stone age, and now it’s centuries later and they’re up to like the medieval period now?

Lots of possibilities there, methinks. Radiation poisoning early on could’ve mutated reptiles into dragons and stuff, so now the medieval knights have to fight dragons like in fantasy novels. So of course they’d want a guild, which could operate much like a union to protect their wages and rights since they’re doing such dangerous yet necessary work.

So you’d maybe want typical medieval type jobs? Fish mongers, weavers, farmers, artisans, etc. and each group would have their own guild.

Why do you need to replace it? Why did you take it out in the first place?

Using the KUA wasn’t working as I originally thought. I wanted to add guilds but I changed my mind.
