I see, so the actual work will be starting soon. I wish you good luck! How has the training been so far? Do you have the feeling you chose the right job for yourself?
My research was about levels of uric acid in different phases of bipolar disorder. Without getting into too much detail, there is basically this theory that uric acid plays a role in the genesis of mental disorders. The hypothesis was that manic phase of bipolar has higher levels than depressive phase. I took some data from the Clinic’s database and did the statistics.
It hasn’t been published anywhere, at least not yet. I heard that, if you did the job well and have some amount of luck, student researches could be published in some affirmed medical journals. I will see what happens after defending the work.
The way it works here, we get the title of “doctor of general praxis” (which is, as far as my knowledge goes, the Serbian equivalent of an MD) after six years of study in the medical university. I am at my fifth year right now.
Once I am done with that, I have to do some work as a general practitioner of medicine. We call that period “stažiranje”. It lasts one year, and I will be rotating from clinic to clinic. In the end, I will take something we call “state exam”, which is like a finals test.
Then, finally, comes the specialisation part of the whole journey. I haven’t gotten all the info on how that exactly works in my country yet. What I do know, however, is that my average mark and, especially, student researches will be the main factors whether I am going to get the field I’d like.
Yes, it is in Serbian, called “Mali kameleon” (translation: “Little Chameleon”). I found the club by looking through a website that has a list of currently ongoing literature competitions in my region. Sometimes, advertisements may pop up there, and that’s where I read their invitation towards new potential members. I noticed they are located in my city. The monthly fee is reasonable. Thus I decided to send them some poems, which got me accepted into the crew.
Do tell me when you post your story. Wattpad most of the time won’t notify me when someone publishes a new book.
I am glad you remember. You may get new such comments in the future.
28-30 hours is no joke. How often do you get to visit your hometown nowadays?
Yeah, I plan to do the stažiranje I mentioned, as well as specialisation, in the same city. Where I am going to be working, tho, is something not set in stone so far. It is far away from me. Gonna decide when the time eventually comes.
