Do you have a website for writing?

Not really a website, but more of a blog? I haven’t updated it in a while. It’s for my poetry: https://rachelsfloetry.com/

I write fanfics on Ao3 and original stuff on WattPad.

I have a website. It’s a couple of weeks out of date with links, but I’m waiting for a couple of things and then I can change it again XD

I used Weebly to make it, and it took a bit of time but is fairly simple. It serves its purpose as it has all my sites on it and advertises my published book, and my Wattpad. My secondary “site” is Radish but as thats my more mature stories, I keep that sort of hidden? I like the face of sort of non-erotica for the public
Plus changes are happening right now sooooo yeah.

Doesn’t Neocities need experience in at least basic coding? It’s not a drag-drop website like the ones I listed right?

I’ll try it out! I don’t really care about the watermark, honestly, my eyes automatically gloss over it. I just like how easy it is to write blogs and the creativity compared to Weebly.

your website is so cool!

Yup, sorry. I do code my website myself. ¯\_(ﭢ)_/¯

That’s honestly really cool o.o I haven’t met many writers who do that!

Yeah, the best I can do is basic HTML and even then I can only frankenstein codes. If anything goes wrong with it I wouldn’t know what to do.

Ah, thanks

Wordpress is relatively easy to use for someone like me who doesn’t want to bother with too many features.

RANDOM QUESTION THAT RELATES TO THE TOPIC… IF ANYONE CAN ANSWER IT, PLEASE DO. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I’ve heard it’s good to create a website, specifically for those who want to publish their novels (because… obviously). However, what if you don’t have any books for sale? I just have Wattpad, so technically… Wattpad is my “website” since I have all the books I’ve written and posted there, some social media accounts on my bio, and whatnot. But it’s not a :sparkles:professional:sparkles: looking thing… And while I’ve been meaning to create a website, I don’t really have anything to put on it. Other than Wattpad related stuff and maybe my current WIP… would that be good enough?

I don’t know. How should I go about creating a website for an unpublished author? And what places should I use?

Here are some things you could put on a website:

■ a biography
■ a link to your blog
■ a contact page and list of your social networks
■ blurbs and excerpts from your books
■ questions for book club discussions of your books
■ links to places your books can be purchased or read for free
■ magazines, blogs or websites you’ve contributed to
■ a list of scheduled events, like book tours (lucky you!)
■ news, updates and FAQs
■ book trailers, videos, podcasts
■ your favorite book quotes
■ your best reviews
■ mood boards, face claims, playlists
■ deleted scenes from your books
■ essays, short stories, early work
■ share your favorite links and resources
■ email newsletter signup
■ books you’re reading
■ your future releases

Some easy drop and drag sites are places like Wordpress, Wix, Weebly, and Squarespace. ¯\_(ﭢ)_/¯

I personally think that carrd works well since it’s a drag and drop and you can use it as smth similar to a website. Like my carrd which has my personal info, current projects, and the like.

If you want a website that can act as a blog, the previous recommendations made by other users are good recommendations. Honestly, as an unpublished author myself, it’s best to go with easy-to-work drag-drop websites and have fun with it. It’s kinda relaxing to do especially since it’s a drag and drop and not needing to understand code or know it at all.

Oooh, nice Carrd! I’d forgotten about that one. ヽ(^。^)丿

Wix has a dirty watermark that covers half your site. Especially on the free version and that’s not aesthetically pleasing at all.

Ahhh! Thanks for telling me. I’ve never used them, so I didn’t know. (♯^.^ღ)

That’s me and I put them all up on my website with links where to read them.
I treat them as regular book listings. I looked up a couple of author sites and publisher sites to see what format they usually use and tried to do my own spin of that.

Ooh, yes. Carrd is good. I like your layout.

I forgot, I also have a Linktree. It’s a place to keep all important links to various places on the web where you can find me or my stuff. Wherever I go, I don’t have to worry which link to use, I just list my Linktree.
Very easy to use and free. Yay.
