Could you imagine a premium Churroverse edition of one of my stories, with a graphic novel at the end. And the inner cover is some random ass cartoon design of them? I would make sure those were scarce and they could fight over them. I would so sell something like that at a convention.
My first thought is: omg Sanderson has a beard now? ā(ĖāæĖc)
My second thought is that a lot of this from both sides is frighteningly true. Writers will get even less money, AI will write crappy books but no one will care because those books will be cheaper than books written by real authors, greedy corporations will make stealing intellectual property rights part of every contract in the coming years, and as more and more fake writers create more competition for real writers weāll be devalued even more. (āÆļøµā°,)
We seriously need to put a cap on capitalism in the near future, like a max limit of $10M or so that any business is allowed to make. Anything above that has to go into a public trust that pays for healthcare, utilities, libraries, firefighters, etc. instead of taxes.
I just fear⦠fear! And truth⦠Yeah, I just fear lots of shit about lots of shit!
Iāve nothing to add here, but Iām just āSpace Drifting Trolli-iversingā).Troll-iversing is a new word Iāve just encountered within my mind⦠Iām coining it for sure, but itās going to be a Free-Shareware for yāall to use! Your welcome⦠I think⦠Maybe not then⦠I donāt know anymoreā¦
Iāve heard rumours that some prototype AI can review and improve its own code (or generate new code vocabulary)ā¦This may have been a cause of the recent drama in OpenAIā¦Add in an ability for abstract / creative thought, and we have near human-level AI fiction authors.
Apparently there is a AI software available for local installs (personal PCs) that could be a near-peer rival to ChatGPT. I havenāt installed or experimented with this AI software, yet, but Iām hoping future versions could be an adequate substitute for human beta-readers / editors. So hard to find good ones these days.
Oh, I believe AI can already write better than Anna Todd and a number of other writers, but the issue is not how well it writes because publishers are so greedy they donāt care what they publish as long as it makes money. All they care about is how big your social network following is and whether youāre an influencer. Churroās pointed out before how awful some of the AuthorTubers books are, and some of those writers make SIX FIGURES! No lie. (-̶āĢāāĢ̶)
Meanwhile, some of my favorite authors donāt have time to write any more books because they have to work a second job to support themselves. Itās so unfair! (ć_<ć)
Because you know itās all about that base,
'Bout that base, not talent
Theyāre all about that base, 'bout that base, not talent
Theyāre all about that base, 'bout that base, not talent
Theyāre all about that base, 'bout that base, not talent (fanbase, base base)
Yeah, itās pretty clear, I aināt on authortube
But I can write it, write it, like Iām supposed to do
āCause I got that character development and some pace,
And all the plot in all the right places
I see the authortubes (ah-ha) workinā that online shop (ah-ha)
We know that shit aināt great
Come on now, they wonāt stop
If you got teenage fans (ah-ha), just raise 'em up
'Cause every inch of them is perfect
For some capitalistic sugary slop
Yeah, my mama she told me donāt worry about the size (shoo-wop, wop)
(Sha-ooh-wop, wop)
She says, people like a lilā personality alongside their prose
(That booky, booky, uh, that booky, booky)
And no I wonāt be no generic formulaic boring clone (shoo-wop, wop)
(Sha-ooh-wop, wop)
So, if thatās whatās youāre into
Then go ahead to Authortube and log on
-Churroās All About That Bass parody used to describe the state of authortube
You can either be the best selling author, or the best written author. Very difficult to be both ~ Robert Kiyosaki.
Brian! Who wrote this rubbish? ~ John Clarke, The Games.
When Claptrap speaks, I feel my brain-cells committing suicide one by one ~ Sir Hammerlock, Borderlands 2.
Ahem. One of the reason why I gave up on the editing-exchange website Critique Circle was because finding a interesting story to review, and working through enough chapters of said stories to earn sufficient credits to post my own work, felt like DIY wisdom teeth removal with a mallet.
I 100% percent agree, Iāve seen stories on there that have so little character description I had to ask the author if they were humans, aliens, or sentient llama floaties.
