Handling Situations (You vs your character) Number 7

I’d tell my boss straight up that that’s not my job, nor was it in my job description. They need to give it to the person who’s job it is because they can’t legally make me do it. I know my rights and I’m not putting up with that kind of abuse in the workplace.

Unfortunately, my MC Alma is more of a pushover than I am and would just do it anyways.

my character Lara would magic their way out of it OR take it up as an intellectual challenge if she was extra bored.

me… idk, probably refuse and explain that it’s not my job.

You both are awesome! Honestly, I feel like that wouldn’t be me, because I tend to be a pushover a little. I say that, but I greatly dislike conflict and the heightened emotions that come with it. So, I avoid confrontation and comes with me getting burnt out and easily stressed by it.

Aeris is tricky because she loves doing more than she should, but when she does so much it can burn her own. Yet she knows that she can’t do everyone’s jobs and needs to pace herself.

This one is also hard for me, because I don’t like confrontation

Meanwhile Aiden would either explain how this isn’t his job, or just not do it

When it comes to work, I’m pretty serious about doing it right AND keeping good relations, so I’d go to the other employee who is supposed to deal with it, ask them what they think of this and if they have any suggestions on how to do it. I would make it out like “oh hey, I got this job from the boss and you’re the expert, let’s do it together and finish it, shall we?”

I avoid conflict, but also will fight for what’s right. So, if the boss says “that’s not how I wanted you to do it”, I would say, “well, the expert is over there and we worked on it together and this is what we got. If you need anything more, it’s not part of my job. It’s their job. I’m going back to doing my tasks.”

Basically, it’s the boss’s fault for asking me to do something that’s not my job and he should feel his fault.

Bleh.

I was imagining my current problematic professor boss XD It’s something he could do if there was a situation like that where I’m not his only assistant. Gotta be very careful with relations when the boss is wrong.

If Eryn has a job…see, she’s never worked in her life. If she had a job, she would probably bring the other employee over and say to the boss, “this is his job, not mine. I’m busy with my own things. You guys work out your issues.” She would flip her hair and leave :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe when you give a new situation you can update the title? I wasn’t sure, but had a feeling and came here and I was right there was a new one, but it would be nice to know in the title.

Handling Situations (You vs your character) No. 2
or something like that. A log of situations might be nice to have as well in the place where you tagged everyone.
Situation 1
Situation 2

Just some suggestions. Also, it would help you keep track of what number you gave as the numbers grow

Thanks so much.

tysm!

same actally. but I weigh the benefits against the cons and come up with that a momentary conflict might not actually be that bad compared to working 3 months on a project you’re not equipped for lol.

oooh ok.

Interesting take on it. I mean there are times when I do try to stand up for myself, yet it leaves me feeling awkward and unsure.

I can’t explain it.

that’s completely valid!

Bump.

My grandmother was like that when she used to cook a lot. I would just say, “it was so good and I’m full now.” She would say, “really? are you sure?” and I would say, “oh yeah, soooo stuffed, it was sooo goood.” and she would say, “have a little more of this or that…” So, I would say, “Oh no, I am STUFFED!” and I start clearing up my plate to make a point XD

If Tip’s grandparents were alive…hm. If Eryn’s grandparents were alive…hm. To be honest, my characters would probably do the same thing as me

To avoid upsetting them I’d tell them I’m full but I liked the food a lot and ask if I can take some home with me in a container I could either throw away or return to them next time.

I think my MC, Alma would politely decline because he isn’t big on eating much in general. He’d just insist he’s eating enough and doesn’t need more.

This topic makes me miss my granny.

gasp You’d throw away grandmommy and grandpappy’s delicious meals?

:open_mouth:

Aww!

No no, the container, not the meal. I’d ask for a container I can either throw away or return to them. I’d still eat the food later.
