Have the worldbuilding pretty much done, but have no plot, help?

I already have the entire world built, or most of it save some minor details, but I have 0 plot on what to do in this world. Any tips for this?

Ahh, the most common mistake of a worldbuilder: focusing more on world-building than the story itself. Trust me, been there, done that. Can you share more details about this world you’ve created? Just the fundamentals, no need for deeper information.

As a general rule tho, imagine yourself in this world you built, what would do? What would you do with powers that are unique to that world? How would you work with the world you created? How will society view you? Essentially, placing yourself as a main character first then go from that.

Basically, Dolphins and Humans are both sapient enough to develop civilization (Technology, Socities, Nations, even War albeit I don’t want war to be the focus in the first story, etc.)

Without going too deep into details, Dolphins mostly built their cities around Underwater Volcanoes because that’s the best place to raise fish and then cook said fish with the heat of the volcanoes, so it’s kinda their equivalent to Rivers for us

Humans and Dolphins ARE aware of each other and engage in Diplomacy, we even share the internet, but visiting each other is harder and it’s usually very rare because, well, it’s a lot of resources for ONE visitor to be able to go, so it’s mostly reserved for Ambassadors and stuff

Ahh, so what conflicts would there be? Discrimination? Fear between species? Political dispute like territorial? Think of something that would feature both worlds. If you can write romance, you can go with a Romero-Juliet vibe, but that’s been butchered many times already. Friendship, maybe? Either way, you can try to imagine what would happen if the two species encounter each other. How would a human help with a dolphin problem, and vice versa?

A lot of things could happen, and only you know the societal, political climate the world has.

Scroll down to Major Arcana Spreads. Choose which one fits the themes and conflicts of your story.

The thing about discrimination would be that these species are aware of each other since the 19th Century (They thougt the other was just animals until the Industrial Revolution because that’s a bit harder to ignore), and while I do intend to eventually write on that period, I want my first story to be 21st Century

Discrimination is forever, as long as there’s prejudice. It’s not something that disappears over centuries. I mean, look at the world now So, the story can still hinge on that. However, it’s too political. You can choose a better conflict to latch on to.

Yeah, it’s not a bad idea, just not sure how to implement it lol, but I think I can work with that. The thing would be the power balance, both civilizations developed more or less at the same rate independent from each other, and due to the fact dolphins can’t live on land and humans can’t live on the ocean, they don’t usually have disputes regarding territory with each other, so ya know, they’re balanced on how powerful they are (as species, as individual countries, there’s still a lot of imbalance but that’s mostly prone to conflicts within the same species, ya know)

But thanks! You really helped me a lot there :3

Oh, you underestimate territorial disputes. Humans eat fish. If dolphins rule the sea, fishermen will certainly have a say. Some countries build bases on islands that are not totally theirs. Any military base on someone else’s land or, in this case, sea is a security issue. I don’t want you to go political cause a political book will surely raise some eyebrows, but look into the conflict of the South China Sea. It’s not Humans vs Dolphins, but I’m sure you can take something from that.

Dw about politics, it’s not an issue, I enjoy some politics lol, I just mostly want to keep them away from the FIRST book because I want the world to be introduced first ya know
