How about a short story collection?

I’ve never made one. Although I did plan on making it decades ago, I just never stuck with it.

Based on this thread that I made down here, I just came up with an idea because of someone helping me make sense of things.

I can take a series of short stories and turn them into a collection. Yes, this has been done before, I just never did it myself which would be different for me.

The title of this short story collection is called; We are Monsters to Madness. This will be the title of the collection of shorts not a novel title.

Thoughts and feelings?

Great idea! I’ve been pondering the same thing lately since I’ve had to remove several chapters from my current work that don’t really serve much purpose being there. But I hate to kill my darlings, so I was thinking I’d turn them into short stories and maybe release the short story collection after the entire series is published as a little bonus, like Susanna Clarke did with her collection of stories that take place in the Strange and Norrell universe. (ღ˘ᴗ˘ღ)

You know something, Inside the Chaos is a story that has been on my mind off and on since 2017. It’s a story, like other stories that I need to write based on my experiences with mental health and societal affect on mental health.

I don’t write stories like that whether science-fantasy or not because I don’t want to think about it when I am writing. I am having fun, but I can still have fun with meaning.

So, I plan to do that with my Alagossian stories and stories not set in Alagossia. They need to be more than cool concepts with zero direction or purpose.

That is why I wanted to tackle this short story collection first before doing a novel or novel series.

I’ve got short story compilations already. As long as they’re somewhat thematic, go for them.

They are. Deal with mental health, society and mental health, trauma, and a bit of my experiences as some who have issues relating to their mental health and trauma.

Yes. I just never wrote many stories like that because I am skeptical of myself and found that to be boring. I don’t want to think like that anymore.

Honestly, I think that’s a great idea and would love to do something similar myself, just to build my writing skills, even if I never publish it.

Thanks. It was something that I wanted to do for a while, though it was an on and off thing.

I am glad to get the chance to do so! This can prepare me to take a different look at my Alagossian stories, personally.
