How do you even draw a map by hand at least?

I tried Inkcrate and some other map making sites online and I did not like them. I feel 100% better if I stick with large paper posters than an online mapping making site instead. I need to draw on a large paper to get a sense of what I am working with.

I will admit this is pretty much a pointless thread to begin with, but I am genuinely a bit curious. I don’t have to make it perfect, just good enough for my liking.

Let alone find paper large enough for my needs…

I’m pretty sure there are YouTube videos on how to make a fantasy map on paper, because I can almost picture one I must have watched years ago. ( ˆ◡ˆ)۶ ٩(˘◡˘ )

I draw maps on paper then use Canva to make them look more “professional”

How? How did you draw it?

I have to search.

I am going to have to be sloppy in terms of drawing the continents, but in terms of the countries, I am going to have to figure out which nation goes where.

I just need to draw the continent in a messy way. I was looking more so as which continent should have which country.

General shapes for continents then adding features to them like towns, cities, mountains, lakes, rivers, etc., and sometimes little islands. I did geography in high school and they covered a bit of map making  They’re in no way professional looking and need more work, but yeah it’s one of those things that just takes practice

Random number generator might help. Put in the number of continents you have and then whatever number pops up, the country can go on that continent

But my continents are SUPER continents, like three times Pangaea’s size.

Update: It’s sloppy, but it works and that is all that matters.

I just need to understand which country goes where. That is all.

Remember, it is just to see where each nation is where, so it is going to be sloppy. Also, it is front and back on a single paper. That is fine for me until I decide to actually do something more with them. I plan to get more paper, but things are staying the same.

Wowzers, that’s a lot of countries! Looks good, though. Have you come up with names for the oceans around those continents?

Not yet. I also need to figure out the islands too.

I am going to get more papers to help me out with that.

You could argue that you’re focusing on the continents are the ones the story takes place on and that there’s more outside the map

Well, I just wanted to know where the countries are placed in the world. I needed a general idea of which continents have which nations.

I now have that because I filled out the continents by putting which nations where.
